Well, we do seem to have run most everyone else out of the thread, so I guess we’re free to discuss whatever we want, eh?

See, I think that could be generalized even further from “natural selection” to just plain “cause and effect.” By removing or insulating the effects of choices, we’ve created a society where nobody has to take responsibility for their actions. I don’t want to get into politics, but this applies to helicopter parents, bank/corporate bailouts, and home loan bailouts where people bought way more than they should have.

Yikes! Other than the price tag is right! They’re awfully proud of that little piece of circuitry, aren’t they? If I was to seriously get into something like this, I think I’d just buy the component pieces from Sparkfun and roll my own hardware, because playing with the hardware side of things would be at least half of the fun of it for me.
Regarding chutes, I don’t think I’ve seen the near space guy mention ever using a chute. I think I remember that he uses a streamer or two to slow the fall, but is it possible that the package just free falls after the balloon pops?
