Ok, so I have great ones for this. The problem is they are on my Lap top which died. I dunno if my hard drive will be rescued in time
I knew I should have taken my backup HDD to Tokyo =/
August 21, 2008 at 1:55 pm #18130jpattenParticipantOk.. I have a couple of ideas for this one…

August 22, 2008 at 1:05 am #18131jpattenParticipantOk, if the babies will JUST go to sleep, I might have a chance to work on a couple of ideas.
August 23, 2008 at 4:34 pm #18132justkatParticipantyou know, despite actually already having my pix set up for this, every time I see the contest name out of the corner of my eye it looks like “paranoiacs” 😛
August 23, 2008 at 4:54 pm #18133jpattenParticipanta paranoia thread? break out the tinfoil hats and blurry pictures of black helicopters and pie plates on a string
August 23, 2008 at 9:13 pm #18134UranusParticipantcropped for effect…does this count, or does it need to be even wider?

I think thats wide enough to count.
August 24, 2008 at 2:40 pm #18137mopsyParticipantI posted the following somewhere but I can’t find it. Just want to be sure I’m understanding the contest, so here’s my question again. I’ve done two panoramics at size 640×149 and 640×178. Are those the correct sizes? They are really tiny! By the way this is a great contest. Never done it before and am amazed at how well the “stitching” in photomerge works.
August 24, 2008 at 9:14 pm #18138erondParticipantMy “panoramic” is wide-angle (24-45mm) shots cropped 3:1.
Don’t know if these will be the final pics, but am I going down the right path?

I like bridges. In this case, they seem to lend themselves pretty readily to the “you are looking at something really wide” intent.
August 25, 2008 at 7:10 am #18142Choc-Ful-AParticipantFiguring out how to post something that’s 640 pixels wide is going to tricky this week. The entry I stitched together is 10055 x 1086 so it doesn’t shrink so well. Since my gut feeling is that people vote based on the posted image and don’t often click through if you do link to a bigger version, I think it’s going to be a challenge.
But I did (finally) learn the basics of how to use layers in Gimp in the process. So no matter what the outcome, I’ve already gotten a lot out of this one.
August 25, 2008 at 9:14 am #18143Choc-Ful-AParticipantI just re-read this thread and think I can find a couple more shots to include by cropping some photos. But I’m not 100% certain what the criteria are for that. I seems, from previous comments, that the width to height ratio is the key, but I’m not sure what value is the cutoff point. So before I edit things and get all attached to the crop I used(!) I thought I’d ask. Does it have to be 2:1, 3:1, something in between, or something even bigger?
