Exactly what it says, just pictures of desserts!
Another quality theme by Kestrana!
September 2, 2010 at 11:42 pm #32064clouddancerParticipantClarifying here while it’s on my mind, but I totally ripped off a shot for one of my entries (definitely using it). Short story, I made a cake the other day, and it was a featured recipe in the Hannaford Fresh magazine and I ripped off the cover picture for it, but of course mine’s not that exact shot. Different platter, different slice, not as finished, etc, but it’s still yummy and yummy looking. Is it okay to rip off another picture like that? Thanks.
September 2, 2010 at 11:44 pm #32065KestranaParticipantWe all use things for inspiration. It can be a challenge to try to recreate something we saw in a magazine or online. I don’t really mind if you used something from a magazine for inspiration. If it’s so similar as to be noticeably the same you might just want to reference the original “ala the recent Hannaford Fresh” or something like that in your caption.
September 2, 2010 at 11:59 pm #32066clouddancerParticipantHopefully, this will work. Here’s mine,
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r69/clouddancer19/Farktography/09292010%20Desserts/cake.jpg
and here’s theirs.
http://www.hannaford.com//assets/hf/assets/content/flipbooks/fresh/07_08_2010/index.html It’s the cover.I didn’t set out to recreate it, but I wanted to make the cake and when I was doing it, I realized I could possibly use it for this contest, so I got a few pictures before digging in. Thought it’d look better with a slice out, so I cut out a bit, and I ended up with a potential entry, so I went with it.
September 3, 2010 at 1:26 am #32067lokisbongParticipantDefinitely looks different enough to me.I’m glad we still have some time for this one. I got almost nothing so far.

Now I’m hungry. Thanks!

Unless I come up with better pictures, the cake picture will be one of my entries. I have whoopie cookies to make again (only got like 5 out the first time and they got eaten before pictures), and I was thinking about chocolate chip cookies. If I manage to go out to eat before the contest, I’m ordering dessert to take a picture of it, and if I’m too full to eat it, I’m bringing it home to eat later.
September 3, 2010 at 4:01 am #32071lokisbongParticipant(insert evil laugh)
My wife bakes.
Try not to drool.
Fail! I got my desk all drooly dammit. I love cheesecake and don’t have anyone that can cook a good cheesecake anymore. Bummed I am.
September 3, 2010 at 1:44 pm #32072KestranaParticipantI’m…gonna go eat some tiramisu now…
September 5, 2010 at 7:06 pm #32073September 5, 2010 at 7:22 pm #32074U-ManParticipantI’ve done some “paid” work for a local bakery. My wife and her best friend have an advertising company and I am sometimes on-staff. I’m sure I’ll use one or more of those shots. Payment so far consists of keeping and eating the desserts as well as making my wife happy. And, as we all know, if Mama ain’t happy, nobody is.
This one, of my youngest, is actually going to be on a Hy-Vee in store end cap.
btw – If you or anyone you know is gluten intolerant (celiac disease/sprue), the lady who owns this bakery is your friend. She considers it her mission to make tasty, gluten-free desserts.
September 6, 2010 at 2:25 am #32075lokisbongParticipantMy last girlfriend was gluten intolerant. Dinners were interesting but usually fairly good. not a big fan of her pasta noodles though. She was also cat fur intolerant and wanted me to get rid of my cat who I had known a lot longer than her. I still have the cat….
September 6, 2010 at 3:17 am #32076orionidParticipantI still have the cat….
😆
I have a few friends (one of whom is a VERY casual farktographer) that are gluten intolerant. All I can say is that gluten free soy sauce (which I didn’t know existed until it showed up at the dinner table) is pretty much garbage. Some of the other things are pretty tasty, though.
September 6, 2010 at 1:12 pm #32077Pope_Larry_IIParticipantI think I know the answer, but can we have people in the picture? I only ask because it was my nieces first birthday yesterday and I have a lot of good photos of her eating cake, or trying to.
