Got it. Unfortunately I woke up bright and early feeling as bad or worse. I may actually have to go to the doctor at this point…

Please do! My little ‘cold’ erupted in a day to bronchitis on the verge of pnemonia; three days of antibiotics and heavy-duty exporant (?)/ cough suppressant and I’m feeling *nearly* normal. I’m so glad I didn’t put it off.

Some really nice entries this week…

Yeah, Zeke’s going to drive me to the Urgent Care in a few…I don’t think I can drive myself. I’ve never had a sore throat this bad, and I had strep constantly as a kid.

The entries I saw last night and this morning were indeed nice. Wish I had something nicer to add to the thread, ,but I had to go with what I had.

This week’s entries are from our first day of vacation in October – A Taste of Charleston at the Boone Hall Plantation. I had three other days with good shots but elected to go with the plantation day because I thought they worked well together. The voters will let me know if my judgement is off the mark.

Didn’t you have the tinfoil on before posting? Tell me you did.
    /oh shiat.

    //daylight savings time.

Hey, does kashari come here? I dig the lighting in the ballet pics (that first one is really good) and I wonder how much was done with Photoshop B&W tool. Or was flash used? Or both? It’s a nice series.

Hi U-man, thanks for the compliment! That actually was just beautiful stage lighting in a dark theater during rehearsals and no flash was allowed. My poor old D60, even with a rented 28-300 3.5(?) lens couldn’t get any more light no matter how much I cursed it, so it’s a good thing they had on white dresses/light clothing! I had such a slow shutter speed most of the time that I’ll have a few nice ones for the Blur or Artistic themes too. 😆

I use Capture NX2 for my RAW conversions and these were developed as Monochrome, then I did a little bit of Curves & Contrast corrections.

All three of mine are from a nature hike that I led through the Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation. I got suckered into leading a hike of landscape and nature photographers by the president of the company…”Hey, let’s get Joe to lead a bunch of amateur photographers on a hike through the park at 8am on a Saturday.” Great.

I was torn between using shots from this hike, or our recent trip to DC and Gettysburg. Here’s some of the DC shots that I decided not to use:

    …and from Gettysburg:

I would imagine that you’ll be seeing some of these in some contest in the future.

    Fallen logs around Hiko-san

    Canon AV-1 50mm F2, Velvia 100

Was this cross-processed? Or cross-scanned? Very serene and dreamy.

Sooo yeah, sinus infection and probable strep. Looking at my throat, the doctor was shocked the test was negative, and I hadn’t thought to tell him I’d gargled with alcohol-based mouthwash this morning (whoops). Going back to bed now.

That sounds like an ugly combination! I hope your loved ones treat you a queen (or at least a duchess) until the invading microbes from hell leave your system. I’ve had sinus infections from time to time since I was a kid. And if you haven’t had that pleasure much, just know they can really knock you for a loop. The symptoms can include things like dizziness, so be careful while bellydancing. 🙂

I’ve had strep throat before too, that’s just one big dose of “it hurts to be alive” that brings out all my inner evil. The only thing that helped me with those was sleep and steaming hot showers. Ick… Get well soon!

Thank you! I didn’t process the film myself, but as far as I know it was processed normally for colour reversal/slide film (CR-56/E-6, right?). I scanned it in from the negative as colour reversal/slide film, so not cross scanned.
I took it just before dusk, which I think explains the light. It was darker than that really, but my camera seems to overcompensates slightly. Being a film camera, I didn’t realise that until a week later when I got the negatives back…

You got me curious about cross-scanning, so I gave it a try with that picture to see how it would turn out. Interestingly, when scanning the slide film in as a normal negative, the scanner couldn’t recognise the edges of the film, so I had to crop the result slightly.
There should be a description of the scanner set up for each picture.
