Where it says “the full rights to use such photographs and copyright same” I am told we need that language in order to obtain a copyright for the book because we are copyrighting the photographs in your name, and we need your permission to do that.

Hmm I haven’t seen the release, but I would think it would be worded as license rather than copyright, that if it says you have the rights to use *and* copyright, that sounds like the photos are being copyrighted to you/Drew/Fark (which is not the intent, I know). Damn I hate legalese…

Kestrana, I have the release and will get it and the highest resolution copy of the picture that I have to you shortly. Once again, I am flattered and proud to be included in the undertaking and am willing to help out in any way that I can.

I haven’t seen any further discussion on the proceeds, however, knowing Drew and the people I have met through Fark who take on such endeavors, I have all the faith in the world that a good decision will be made.

During the fund raising for Tom and Sue, I had spoken to Drew about setting up a foundation through Fark that would benefit people in need of assistance whether it be medical, disaster relief, educational grants or scholarships etc. He told me that he had kicked around the idea some but had found it to be a cumbersome enterprise. My brother has set up such a foundation and has told me that it really isn’t as problematic as it sounds. I am more than willing to assist if this is something that Drew and company would be interested in exploring further. FWIW, I found Fark from a story on either Sullivan or Lileks about a Farker who had been killed in a car wreck (kilipo4). His father logged on to his account and posted to Fark about setting up a scholarship fund in memory of his son. Farkers donated quite a bit to the fund and this was one of the things that told me that there was really something different about the site and the people. The past few months (this project included) reinforces my feelings towards the site and more especially, the people who populate it.

A cool idea I had today is that the image on the front cover should have “Fark” incorporated into it, like this.
(Well, we would want one that did better than 18th place, so take something U-Man did)

Would Drew have their email addresses from them signing up for fark? He may not be allowed to give them to us but you could probably give Drew the list and the email thats being sent out and have him or one of the fark mods email them.

I found some e-mail addresses by checking the Fark profiles of the people listed above. It’s not all of them, but in case it helps, here’s what I see (and I have no special priv’s, this should be visible to any of you with a Fark login). So I don’t think I’m posting anything you can;t get yourself, meaning no privacy issues here as far as I can tell.

Howdy, folks….Good to see that everyone is still going strong on Farktography. I feel very honored that a couple of my images have been selected for the book…Sadly, I don’t believe that I have any of my pics in higher res…If I do, I wouldn’t know where to begin to look for them. My aging parents have really needed me this past year or two, and I have not had time to go shooting, or participate in any recent contests. I was a broken man there for a while, but hope to get back in action sometime soon. I’ve really missed you guys. I have looked in at a few of the contests and voted for many of the entries, but that’s about it. I’m bummed I missed this weeks contest…I own several revolvers and pistols, and would really have enjoyed to make a comeback with this one..Oh well…I’ve replied to the PM..In the event ANY of my images can be used ‘as is’, feel free to do so. It’s all about the fun for me. Thank you kindly for thinking of me. Miss you all !
