ParticipantI have a feeling the shade may change a bit – they’re currently a bit more pale than mine, I think. But my wife has gorgeous brown eyes… so who knows?

ParticipantThe 50DX is next to useless. It was designed for film, not digital.
caradoc
ParticipantIt’s been in most of the financials for a few days now.

ParticipantMake sure there’s a “Best Effort” clause in the contract – something like:
Due to the nature of wedding photography being a ?best effort? artistic endeavor, it is understood and agreed that Photographer will not be held responsible for images/photographs that are damaged or unusable due to the use of flash or strobe on the part of wedding guests performing their own photography. If necessary, Photographer will request that wedding guests cease photography while working on posed portraits. The Contracting Party agrees to support such requests insofar as may be possible. The Contracting Party further agrees that no complaint can be made after-the-fact as regards ?missed images? or failure to include ?important people? in specific images. (The Photographer highly recommends that the Contracting Party have someone at the event with a list of ?required? images to assist in gathering the requisite ?important persons? to be included in specific photographs.)

ParticipantAccording to what I’ve read, the key piece of info y’all are lacking is that GoDaddy helped author the SOPA bill and they’re explicitly EXEMPT from it, so really, they don’t give a sh!t about how it affects other ISPs. Of course, after the backlash and the tons of people leaving them in protest, they backtracked and reversed their position.
For certain values of “y’all,” maybe.
GoDaddy is local to me. I know a lot of people working there. I’m all too aware of how they run their business, and what part they had in creating SOPA.

ParticipantI’d guess it’s their support of SOPA.
Among other things, yes. Parsons’ elephant-shooting video left me with a sour taste, too.

ParticipantIt looks to me like there’s a map on the wall, upside down – and the map is being seen through the water drop as a globe.
Impressive – moreso if not manipulated.

ParticipantUm… orionid? Was there supposed to be a link?

ParticipantHere’s one example I use for white balance demonstrations:
There’s a CTO-gelled flash to camera left, and a bare flash to camera right. The camera is set to “incandescent” white balance.
You can see that the bare flash turns a “bluer” color when the camera is set to “incandescent.”
A more extreme example, using a CTO-gelled flash to camera left, and dappled sunlight/open shade:
Here you can see that the sunlight turns a LOT “bluer” with the camera set for “incandescent.”

ParticipantAnsel Adams did all sorts of shit in the dark room to adjust his images and no one thinks less of them for that.
…and that right there is why I consider the perfect shot in-camera to be a fool’s errand.
…however, if you can eliminate an hour in post-processing by taking the ten seconds and slapping the CTO filter on your flash to mix with ambient incandescent, that’s fifty-nine minutes and fifty seconds saved.
There’s a break-even point in doing everything “pre-shutter” vs. “post-processing.”

ParticipantYugoboy, I understand that you’re asking about white balance, but what’s the question? Are you trying to set a custom white balance, set the correct white balance for lighting conditions, or what?

ParticipantHave you been down to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve yet? Lots of birding opportunities…
