ParticipantOh yeah, absolutely. There’s no question what’s going on now and you can better see his expression as well. Great job.

ParticipantThose all look pretty good to me, Pope! Excellent sense of action and you’ve got the ball in frame for most shots.
The only suggestion I’d offer is perhaps an occasional tighter zoom/crop to see the concentration/effort on the faces of the players (or even focus on just a single player in the middle of the action). I think a couple of those kinds of shots thrown in with the rest of the overall action shots helps to make it a more “personal” viewing experience.
The broken bat shot perhaps could be a little more tightly cropped to force focus onto the broken bat. I didn’t notice the flying piece of broken bat until a second or third viewing (at least at this resolution – it’s pretty obvious at full size, which brings up the point that some of this depends on your intended print/viewing size).

ParticipantThanks! I’ll PM you the codes this weekend.
Don’t know if/how things have changed on your end but I never got a PM…

ParticipantGoing to be out of town for this one, anyone willing to post then up for me?
Hopefully I should have some of my own to post as well so I could add them to my autoposter queue for you, ‘Cuda.

ParticipantI knew if I threw enough lake fireworks photos at the wall one of ’em had to eventually stick! 😉
I’m a bit surprised at how well the touchdown celebration photo did as sports photos don’t normally get much traction here. I had limited options, though; for a theme that I thought would be easy to find entries for, I had surprisingly few that didn’t look like your standard kid’s birthday celebration snapshot.

ParticipantNice stuff, orionid. I particularly like the boardwalk and bikers. The shoreline has a tad bit too much HDR in the foreground foliage for my liking.
With the Capitol in the background, that biker shot is very iconic; IMO the only way it could be improved would be if the entire flag was also in frame.

ParticipantI also have a thing about being the only one posting to a forum, so if other people aren’t posting/discussing, I tend not to either. Downward spiral/self-fulfilling prophecies/whatever.
Yeah, I think that probably applies to most of us still hanging around. No point posting if you think nobody’s reading.

ParticipantI agree, Morningbreath. It is sad.
I also miss the daily discussions that used to occur around here and wonder what happened to all of the previous regulars. Did they get bored, have real life demand their attention (that one I can certainly identify with), get offended, move to the depths of Africa and have no internet, …?
We could try publicly shaming people who don’t participate.
staplermofo, you are hereby sentenced to stand in Grant Park for an hour with a sign stating “I created a Farktography theme and didn’t participate in it.” 😛

ParticipantI’ve learned that unless I have the 400mm lens I’m cropping a lot
I often ran into the same thing when shooting football, Pope, even with a 1.4x TE on the 200. But shooting from the sidelines I often also needed a shorter lens so it had to do.

ParticipantGot a half dozen bees myself here…

ParticipantSweet! Nice work, ‘Cuda.
I’ve got the Nik Collection too but I really need to spend some time to learn the finer details of its usage. Any pointers on good tutorials?

ParticipantWelcome back, rav!
Also, actually have a couple of b-sides this week for anyone interested.

ParticipantIf you’re not familiar with HTML, the easiest way is to just use Fark’s HTML comment box. Click the circled button:

and then in the popup box, simply enter the link to your photo on pbase:

Don’t forgot to check the “enable voting” box before submitting.

ParticipantI know that feeling, ‘Cuda. But hey, it’s only money, right? 🙂 I mean, what else are ya gonna do with it? Pay bills, save for retirement – those things are boring!
Anyway, congrats on your new purchase! I looked at the 24-105 but ended up going with the 24-70 since I already had the 70-200 so that overlap was covered. I’m not sure if the extra f/stop was worth the loss of IS but the 24-70 is my standard goto lens now.
I also faced the same dilemma with the loss of my EF-S wide lens when I went FF (I’ve got the EF-S 10-22) but I decided to try a “fun” lens and went with the 8-15 fisheye. It’s nice and I’m glad I have it but I find that I’d still like to have a normal wide angle sometimes.
Finally, WTH man?!? Didn’t you just return from a Pacific NW trip? It’s not fair you’re going again already! 😉

ParticipantVery nice stuff, ‘Cuda. I was in Seattle once for a Microsoft conference but didn’t get to do any sightseeing so it (and the northwest in general) is on my list of places to revisit.
