well guess what, all the appraiser wanted was the D3000. and for not much at that. but since i need an shot of money i took their offer. the rest is on it’s way back and is scheduled to be here next tuesday. at that point i’ll have to learn how to sell on ebay. i’ve only bought there so far.

what annoyed me about this is they told me on the phone they could use all of the film stuff then once they had seen it it was” oh we don’t want that, we have more than enough, it has no value .. ” and when i ask why a focusing rail identical to mine sold on ebay for $149.00 and they didn’t even have one in their used equipment …. frustrating to say the least.

for reason not worth mentioning we are going to win8 at work. my boss likes it and the rest of the people he has made use it hate it. even in classic mode.

Chase the features that you want, not the MP.

that’s basically what i did. and all things being equal the D7000 has more features than i’ll use. given how i use a camera this looks like it’s going to be good. i’m a bit concerned about critical sharpness but the tests i’ve run so far point to hand shake, inexpensive optics, small DOF and other stuff rather than a fault with the camera body.

of course what i want is to capture a golden eagle in flight half a mile away and have every feather so sharp you could shave with it. and i’ve seen photos like that so don’t tell me they can’t be done.

ok maybe not with a refurbished 55-300 zoom even is it is nikon.

I had a Minolta Freedom. Got 5 bucks for it on eBay. I may be interested in an XD-11.

well with my work schedule change my grasp of the days of the week went to hell and it was upon waking this morning i realized i not only didn’t have time for another shot but was 11 hours late posting.

but i put them up. great fun looking through the contest this time. great shots of fun things. many fun memories. thanks one and all.

you have some of my old crap 🙂 guess using the pictures i have of it would be wrong.

just got done shooting three of my old crap. we’ll see how the pictures turned out in a while. i’m sure some of you have 5.25 floppies and 100mb zip floppies and would do better photos. so don’t.

that would work much better. you and i know what a problem it is getting folks on board with a theme, especially one with an ambivalent description.

besides once the ads start the more page views the better, right?

that’s from tonight’s final theme description and IMO way way off what the theme started as. now it may just be me but reading through the 5 pages of comments and looking at some of the examples posted we are in PSville. if not in name then in action. that shot of the three heads by the tree with the sword is PS. and as much as i like (seriously and sincerely) yugoboys use of the wrap tool what he plans to do tonight he has entered in PS contests here and at Misfits.

and i don’t care if that’s what the community wants to do. and it’s my fault for just using filters (one each per image) before reading the contest thread.

but it personifies my feelings about how the description and the thread often diverge from each other.

what orionid said if there is even the slightest chance of messing up the start time. we have fought this fight repeatedly and really don’t want to have to again.

as for listing it -meh. i doubt many more would see it beyond the serious photoshoppers and they seldom join in.

there is also the potential problem of defining the “rules”. listing the contest would also have to entail posting the Boobies since the title isn’t always clear. so we list it, post the Boobies and here in the farktography contest thread decide that “oh hell no that’s not what that means. any picture like that will be DQ” and who would see that and when?

so no – i’m voting no. nice idea but, no.
