ParticipantHave a couple drinks for me. I only get to the Chicago area 2-3 times a year to visit family.

ParticipantThose are rocks, and I have no idea what kinda bug that is

ParticipantI used a Sigma 70-300 in macro mode. It is nice to get the dust off. Maybe I’ll venture further than the boundries of my property (not big at all) and take more pictures later.

ParticipantWell I did as I was told and went and took a few shots.
It’s the lastest date on the list (Today actually)

ParticipantI have a Nikon D50 and I just picked up a sigma 70-300mm lens from a local camera shop for $125. It is the one that wolfcamera sells in this 2 lens kit http://www.wolfcamera.com/product/253091532.htm Check around I bought mine for a very similar reason, to shoot autocrosses. I kept getting run off from the good angles with my 28-80 because I was too close, but with the 70-300 I was able to stand back, not get yelled at and take pictures. Here are some pictures from that event http://www.geocities.com/sceniccitymiatas/autox031906.html That was my very first time shooting moving cars, but I know I will have many more opportunities to increase my skills and take better photos.

ParticipantI know a guy that was a full time professional photographer for about 10 years, he told me not to take less than $1,000 if anyone ever approached me to use a picture I have taken in any kind of ads and the longer they want to use it the more you charge, the more people that will see it the more you charge. He did a 3 photo thing for our local trade center and he said the going price for something like that is $10k+, but those were huge (not sure but probably around 8-10 foot squares if not bigger) and were there permantly but that’s the only place they could use those photos without asking (and paying him). Again he is an established photographer in the area and has a good reputation to produce high quality work.

ParticipantI may complain that my post is far down but I will also say I need to get a TF subscription, hey it keeps the website running right? I think the only thing that would be good would be to delay the ability to vote until a majority of the photos are posted and if you post after that well too bad.

ParticipantI’m so far down on the list, I really should get a TF subscription

ParticipantI figured if I posted this and told people that it wasn’t my backyard I wouldn’t be tempted to submit it in the upcoming contest, but I do have one for that 🙂

ParticipantWell my only camera is a nikon d50 unless you count the camera on my Treo 650. 640×480 goodness from that badboy. I guess it would make a nice grainy photo for a voyer theme. 😉 Oh well I still have nothing for tomorrow’s contest and being in Chattanooga, TN there are tons of interesting doorways/entrances to photograph I just need to get off the computer and out in the open air. I’m still happy with my picture taken from my backyard. Too bad I’m a cheapo and I don’t have a Total Fark subscription as my photo will be so far down on the list.

ParticipantI found 1 photo that I took in a graveyard. I really need to get a totalfark subscription because I hate having to wait.

ParticipantI got around to taking the above picture at night. I didn’t get the road as centered as I would have liked, but I didn’t like this car that drove by a couple times. So I decided to take what I had and get outta there. I will have to go back when I’m not by myself.

ParticipantI’m into photographing cars and moving objects. There is a few guys that stand on the side of a well known road in NC/TN called “http://www.tailofthedragon.com”>Deals Gap (US-129) His site is http://www.killboy.com but the part I like is his http://www.pbase.com/killboy/killboycom_portfolio section because if you click “full exif” you get to see what settings he had on his camera. Just once place I look to see what different settings he uses for different things.

ParticipantI think most of my pictures were at a 150mm focal length. I felt safer being further away. I didnt’ use any kind of tripod/monopod. I resized them using a batch editor but I just got photoshop and I’m going to start learning how to use it. Maybe I can get the best pictures down to a web friendly size and keep them as sharp as possible. I also found a program that can read the .nef files and output large tiff files to further edit in photoshop because for some reason photoshop won’t open the .nef files.
