ParticipantThe 5D has come down in price quite a bit lately. You can get a refurbed one under $1600 and a new one for under $2k.
Pair that with a 50mm f/1.4 and just crop to fill out the zoom range. It’d be like having a 300mm f/1.4 equivalent lens on a 2mp body! Just think of the possibilities!staplermofo
ParticipantI came in to say “Don’t forget
PolandPentax.”They have a very solid DSLR and lens line up, awesome prices and hard-core awesome factor you can only get with having a modern, affordable “pancake lens” line up.
Seriously, they’re called that. Pentax makes the pancakes. If I had a Pentax I would get a 40mm f/2.8 and a shirt with “Pentax makes the pancakes” on the front, with a picture of my camera commiserating with a bunny with a pancake on its head on the back and I would never wear a jacket and I would be late all of the time because people would stop me to tell me how awesome everything about all that is.

ParticipantI was a colossal failure! Oh well at least I can vote for myself! LoL
I wouldn’t call it a colossal failure! People (and I’m included in this) have posted far worse. I especially like your first entry. Welcome aboard!
What she said, but more emphatically, and with gestures better suited to Baroque operas.

ParticipantFor the record, I did consider shooting the staple in a teabag, but thought it wasn’t on theme enough since you don’t really taste the staple.

ParticipantThanks schnee.
If I hadn’t rushed it might have worked better, but it worked better than I what I had before regardless.staplermofo

ParticipantI broke out the Grass Jelly Drink, and man, when wikipedia tells you something is made from grass boiled in water and pearlash, with a “slight” iodine flavor, you DON’T DRINK IT!
On the other hand, the aloe is delicious.

It’s full of a feathery pulp, which I’m having a hard time bringing out in the photos.
Anyone have any advice?staplermofo
ParticipantI would love to see the kind of night of drinking that costs as much as airfare and a hotel. =D
Psh, that’s easy.
The average cost of a drink is $5, Figure $425 for airfare and $175 for a hotel.
Let’s assume you have 50 mixed drinks, that’s $250.
Figure $275 for the ambulance, another $150 for the banana bags, liquid charcoal, catheter, etc.
Emergency treatment at Cook County Hospital is free. Leave any ID with someone at the bar and you can beat the ambulance fees too. The next day you claim to be homeless, walk over to the Blue line and back to O’Hare.
If you fully intend to spend the night at the hospital you can skip the hotel altogether and make the whole thing even more affordable.staplermofo
ParticipantIt’s an open bar this time too, so even with airfare and a hotel it should cost as much as a regular night of drinking.

I’ve gotta run to work, then court, then school, then work again, then coma before I’ll have a chance to post again.
