Participanttomorrow on my lunch break, I gotta find somewhere I can set a concrete buddha ablaze.

ParticipantI was thinking more along the lines of printing out one of warhol’s soup cans, pasting that onto an actual can, and then photographing that being obviously three-dimensional.
Actually. I like that idea too. And it doesn’t feel slimy. I mean, it is not like you’d be trying to ‘get away with something’.

Yeah, I think that would be fine. Good idea.

I tried convincing pangolyn to do the flaming monk. She decided that neither her, nor her roomates really wanted to be crispy-fied.

KeymasterI had to do the immolation with Peeps. Not sure if I’m going to use it or not…haven’t decided on my three yet. Probably won’t till 5 minutes before the contest. I’m thinking this may be an Epic thread.
March 18, 2009 at 9:15 pm #21196U-Man
ParticipantI just stopped at Wal*Mart on the way home and got a $3 bald doll to try the immolation pic. I don’t know if I’ll even get it done but would it be bad-form to even try? I mean, soosh presented it and Elsinore has done one already. Just what is Farktography etiquette for this?
/tick, tick, tick…should I try it?
March 18, 2009 at 9:31 pm #21197soosh
ParticipantGo for it, is my thinking. I’m going to have an entry tonight, maybe, that features it, but I hardly have a copyright on the image.
March 18, 2009 at 9:48 pm #21198Elsinore
KeymasterI agree. It’s an iconic image, and there’s likely to be other folks who have done it but don’t participate in the discussion here. It’ll be a different shot and will stand on its own (and probably do better 😆 )
March 18, 2009 at 9:54 pm #21199U-Man
ParticipantThanks for the go-ahead. I haven’t done it yet so we’ll see if I can sneak it in between Daddy duties. Probably not but I want to try it.
/fire…heh, heh…fire.
March 18, 2009 at 9:59 pm #21200Elsinore
Keymasterheh heh FIRE indeed. I used acetone on my peep:

ParticipantI’ve got acetone, but I’m going to mix in some motor oil to create more smoke. Acetone is what I used in the Reptile contest, so you may have had problems with too much ambient light, as you probably weren’t doing your peeps at the back of your garage on top of the washing machine where I did my godzilla thing.
also, that bowl was mostly full of acetone.
I was gonna do this one with a circus peanut, but I really didn’t have a good toy gun and I just couldn’t pull off what I thought looked enough like an image that I started thinking might not be all that iconic anymore.
and then I thought of doing Tienanmen Square in entirely lunchmeat or perhaps steaks, but was short on cash this week, so that will have to wait until another week.

KeymasterYeah ambient light definitely won out over my lovely acetone flames, unfortunately. I had gasoline, but didn’t think to use it.
Lunchmeat Tienamen Square would be hilarious.
/amazingly enough I stayed away from bug and Barbie porn.

ParticipantReally excited about tonight. I’m sure that this will be the most fun contest that I’ve been in so far. Although it appears that I may not have been as creative as some, recreating pictures of dogs and people with, well, dogs and people. I’m also quite certain that I have a much more lax definition of the word ‘iconic’ than most.

ParticipantI had no ideas for this contest until yesterday. On the way home tonight I heard a song that gave me another idea. So I came home and dug out my grandsons Disney figurines and went to work…

Ken Goatse/Barbie Tubgirl probably wouldn’t be allowed, would it?
I don’t know how much you paid for acetone, but you can buy it by the gallon at home depot for like $4. I keep it around to keep certain, umm, smoking devices nice and clean. And also for setting things on fire.
