Heh. I had to sneak out of work this week. Still didn’t make it right at eight. Awesome stuff so far!
/Off to sneak back into work, with three dozen donuts in case I got caught.
//Donuts = Get out of jail free in the NavyMarch 19, 2009 at 12:43 am #21222justkatParticipant/i look terrible, but the picture worked out
Actually I think you look great, but I thought the picture was pretty appropriate given the situation.
that’s very kind of you. and yeah, appropriate… in fact, one of the thoughts i had in my mind to try to get the right face was about kicking cancer’s ass. 🙂
March 19, 2009 at 12:45 am #21223SilverStagParticipantI ended up with only one entry for this one. I realized that other people would be doing everything on the famous images continuum. Images I considered and rejected:
Eddie Adams’ Vietnamese general shooting the VC
Marylin Monroe
Times Square Kiss
Loose Lips sink Ships
Jack and Rose on the Bow of Titanic (using a lifeboat)I actually expect to see most of these from other Farkers, which is one reason I rejected them. I didn’t even consider using toys, I wanted to use live people. As it turned out, I ran out of time, and then the weather declined to cooperate this afternoon. C’est la Vie.
March 19, 2009 at 12:55 am #21224olavfParticipantI love olavf‘s We Can Do It! pic 🙂
Thanks 😀
The only thing I was lacking was a red bandanna. Would you believe with all of Kat’s headcoverings she doesn’t own a red one? :/
Now, if I can just get the ‘Big Mac’ song out of my head… 😛

… C’est la Vie.I’ve got one more to add, provided I can get some daylight in the next day or three, just for fun.
There was one more… but we don’t have any slatted chairs (Kat would have had to enter that one though 😉 )

oh man. that definitely sounds like a job for circus peanuts.
March 19, 2009 at 1:38 am #21227schneeParticipantI love this thread soooo much. Thanks everyone! I had hoped to riff Zapruder, but couldn’t put it together (happy-happy joy-joy dance when I saw soosh’s). Then I thought “Oh, Beatles” and tried to do the John and Yoko image on the bed, but my posers weren’t bendy enough. I got a little abstract.
And, I’m cool with the McD’s images, in case anyone asks.
March 19, 2009 at 1:44 am #21228ElsinoreKeymasterlol I’d thought of the John and Yoko bed shot, too, but couldn’t come up with a way to make it funny enough. I love your Mythic entry, schnee!
March 19, 2009 at 2:02 am #21229corsec67ParticipantWow, good work everyone.
If it wasn’t for Haloween, I wouldn’t really have anything for this contest.
March 19, 2009 at 2:11 am #21230ElsinoreKeymasterlol I liked your V-Day kiss update 😉
March 19, 2009 at 2:16 am #21231corsec67Participantlol I liked your V-Day kiss update 😉
Yeah, it is amazing what you can get on Haloween night.
/Especially in Boulder (set NSFW)

March 19, 2009 at 2:45 am #21233U-ManParticipantGaaaa! I’m stuck between two choices for my last pic.
Have some mercy, man! I don’t know how you will top your first two. Amazing stuff yet again.
Thanks, BB. 🙂
The Marilyn pic is one of my favorites for the past few months. I had another where her face was beautifully happy but I chose the one in the thread because her legs were closer to “original”.
Here’s the other – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Marilyn_2483.jpg
For the Shining pic I knocked together a hand-held beat up door. It was sort of hard to get a crazy look without having a stupid look. Then again, I don’t feel badly that I can’t act as well as Jack. 🙂

Well, I did get a chance to do the self-immolation monk. I’m pretty happy with the result. Not perfect, but OK. I had a hard time choosing between the monk and the migrant mother. A big part of my decision is that my wife (without make-up and looking worried) and kids put up with me and acted as models. 🙂
here’s one of the monk – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Monk_2541a.jpg
I am thoroughly enjoying this thread tonight.
March 19, 2009 at 2:53 am #21234sooshParticipantI like your monk. And the one of your wife and kids is just incredible.
I’ve gone back and forth with my monk, whether to use B&W or color.
Here’s my monk in b&w
too much got lost, I thought.
I also had a problem where the acetone would evaporate very quickly off the concrete statue. I hadn’t thought about that occuring. I should have brought a pan to set him him to hold the fuel.
March 19, 2009 at 3:29 am #21235U-ManParticipantsoosh – I’ve been flipping back and forth between the color and b&w. I think you made the right choice.
/speaking of acetone. In college, I once tried to clean a phone with acetone. And this was after I had taken Organic Chem. To say that the buttons were “sticky” is putting it way mildly. They kinda melted together. Oops.
