There is no prize, per se, but you get special treatment from then on.
For example, ever since I won, I have yet to get a parking or speeding ticket. People stop me on the street from time to time to shower me with praise, flowers, dolls, underwear, etc.
There’s other stuff too, like I would buy any farktographer a beer at a Fark party, but, if you win a contest I would totally buy you a fancy beer, like chimay or something that comes in a fancy glass so everyone knows you’re extra special. But if you have a fancy camera with you, you’re not getting a beer with dregs, like la fin du monde or whatever, because then you might not drink the ruphies.
*applauds*
April 12, 2009 at 7:28 am #21611olavfParticipanthell, I’ll take the ruphies so long as you don’t leave stapler marks on my neck…

April 12, 2009 at 12:28 pm #21613corsec67ParticipantI am sorting through my pictures now, although I do plan to go to the graveyard just down the street. I tried last night and just wasn’t feeling creative.
I think my best entry is an accidental self-portrait that ends up being very funny.
i can’t wait to see what that means… 😀
We were trying to get something kind of like this picture of the model on the gravestone, but I messed up lighting the scene in what ended up being a hilarious way. (Yes, I am using a couple of pictures of models this week. That graveyard was by Central City, CO.)
I am actually feeling quite good about my entries this week but that has no relation to the amount of votes I am going to receive, of course.

no doubt. couldn’t tell ya how many times my least favorite entry did the best.

That’s *definitely* a good thing to know…

Same here 😛
Actually I got a couple of shots yesterday that aren’t appropriate for this contest, but I like nonetheless. The local historic cemetery is, in some areas, basically a garden that also has dead people. It’s really pretty.

You never cease to make me laugh. That is good to know anyhow.

I’ve seen women with hot @$$es before, but that’s a bit ridiculous.

Yep, which makes the one I am going to enter even more hilarious.
(Really, the last time I felt this good about my entries was … Rocks)

I can’t help but look at that photo over and over again, and each time still think that she’s about to drop a duece on that headstone.

so glad I’m not the only one. Seriously, that is classic “woman peeing in the woods” form there.
April 14, 2009 at 4:12 am #21622U-ManParticipantI went out yesterday afternoon to a local graveyard with my seven-year-old (ahhh, the fond memories she’ll have…) and found a very simple, very creepy tombstone. I got a few pics of it that will work. I just went there to try to get a night-time pic that is a snooch better. I don’t know if I succeeded in anything but creeping myself out. It has been raining all day and the ground is all squishy. I was kneeling in the squish, on the grave, in the dark. Then some owls or something were hooting in the nearby woods. Creepy.
April 14, 2009 at 4:48 am #21623olavfParticipantThe ‘cool’ graveyard here locks the gates at 4pm now, thanks to the budget cuts. thankfully we went earlier in the day and were basically done when the guard told us it was time to get the heck out.
Got a few decent pics. Nothing creepy though, ’cause that’s hard to do during the day.
/wanted to go last weekend but the ten year old was all ‘nuh-uhh! not taking *me* there’ :/April 14, 2009 at 11:56 am #21624ElsinoreKeymasterBelieve it or not, I spend a lot more time photographing graveyards than either bug porn or barbie porn combined. When your family starts dying off when you’re 10 years old and hasn’t let up much since, you spend a lot of time in cemeteries. I don’t get creeped out–at least I haven’t yet–night or day. My kids have played graveyard ghost for me for pictures and had a lot of fun doing it 😆
I have a pretty sizable graveyarding set on Flickr; the first Graves theme was my first Farktography nearly 3 years ago…
