I would say yes… its implied by the title wind beneath my wings.

    Splitting hairs:
The description says “things airborne”, nothing about flying.

Thus, I would assume that a bird that was airborne but not flying would, in fact, be acceptable.

I don’t know how I would get such a picture, though.

Recently dead animals aren’t allowed on Fark.

(You could do a skeleton, that isn’t a problem)

So, for this theme, neither of those would be allowed.

what do you all think of this?

It’s a hummingbird in flight. This was a very lucky shot in my opinion.

Now I know I need a better camera. Not one of my pictures of flying birds looks even 10 % as good as that “parachuting” hawk.

Can it be enlarged? And if so, is it still clear? I’ve tried getting photos of the birds coming into my feeders and none have turned out yet!

Dilemma-decided on my first two already, torn on the third.

    Thunderbirds?- http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3269/2656487045_67f17f2c74_b.jpg
    or Osprey?- http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3188/2657312846_cbb2825d29.jpg

I like the Thunderbirds myself. Very dynamic photo.

what do you all think of this?

I agree with Mopsy about enlarging. Maybe crop it down?

    “parachuting” hawk:

    That is gorgeous

That little sob is only ten feet from me and that is as cropped as I could get without it getting blurry.I guess I will try again. With bigger birds.well maybe a little closer but not nearly as clear as I would like.

went back at it with Gimp2 and this is as good as it gets with my skills in photo manipulation.

I was sitting here reading this and realized the picture is only slightly smaller than life sized.

Thanks! I had to do some selective dodging and burning though, so I can’t enter it unfortunately.

This was shot with my 300mm f/4. Unfortunately, birds are one of those things that tend to be difficult without serious glass, and even with that lens I **always** wish I had something longer shooting birds, and almost all of the shots with it have been cropped significantly.

There is one way around that I’ve seen used successfully if you have a feeder and an IR remote – set up the camera on a tripod pointing at the feeder and trigger it from like 20-30 feet away…

    What if they’re just pining?
