ParticipantWhile my vote would be to permit everyone’s entries to remain this week, I understand your delimma. If you decide that any photo having even the smallest amount of sunlight should go, then that has to be strictly held because there are more than Mequain’s and mine that appear to have some sunlight in them. I did not get to see Mequain’s photo in question, but if it is similar to mine then mine need to go to. I’ll cry but that’s okay there is always next week.

Yeah. Unfortunate.
Let’s keep it pretty loose. I think that folks will recognize that this is a somewhat touchy issue this week and won’t want to rock the boat. I don’t think it will be a slippery slope for future themes.
C’mon. We’re playing for bragging rights, not cash and prizes. The main idea is to grow as a photographer and have a forum to show off your stuff and get feedback.
To be perfectly honest, I’ve gotten complaints for both being too easy and for being too strict, but that goes with the territory. To my mind, if the words say something in plain English, then that’s what we should do. I try to be equitable while allowing for people who are just learning to have a bit of leeway if they demonstrate a sincere effort at doing what the theme asks. I spend a lot of time considering all sides of an issue.
I really wanted orionid to be able to jump in on this one, but honestly, I’m being torn in too many non-internet directions tonight to fight this fight, so I’m restoring Megain’s photo, and unless something is egregiously mid-day high key, I’m just going to let it all be.

orionidParticipantSorry I missed jumping in…. I was at a friends for dinner, and barely snuck the usage of her laptop long enough to post. Given prior discussion, I understand both sides of the issue. I’m hesitantly okay with diffusers and reflectors, as well as letting the casual posters slide a little bit (like Els said, as long as they’re not glaringly obvious high-key).
Next theme I suggest, I’ll try to brainstorm and pre-side all the interpretations. =]
