ParticipantThanks! I’ll PM you the codes this weekend. Had some good shots for Mexico but missed the boat this week – was downtown shooting the skyline and lightning storm.

ParticipantGoing to be out of town for this one, anyone willing to post then up for me?

ParticipantI have an alarm set too, just seems that I’m usually somewhere else when it goes off. Maybe I need to adjust it for a time I’m more likely to be at home.

Participantorionid – 145sec, I think I had stacked my 10 stop and 3 stop ND’s for that one (f/14 aperture)
linguine – let’s see… started in Seattle, Mt. St. Helens, Portland, McMinnville, Drift Creek Falls (Lincoln County), Rocky Creek (oregon coast), Newport/Yaquina Head, Cape Perpetua, Waldport, Mt. Hood, Hood River, Columbia River Gorge, Cannon Beach/Seaside, Astoria, Long Beach, WA, and Olympia.
A couple more:

Haystack Rock – Cannon Beach
back at Trillium Lake / Mt. Hood the next morning from the OP shot, finally got some calm water.
parking lot at Timberline Lodge providing some nice light painting of the foreground here.
took my 3 visits to finally get this shot. Ultimately had to do a pano to get the entire wing in frame. A 17mm on full frame wasn’t enough, nor was 11mm on a crop last visit.Barracuda
ParticipantThe flare seems to be in a place that lightroom could clone out without much effort. All in all very nice work.

ParticipantCan’t recall any tutorials off hand, think I watched a couple of them on the Nik website (bought it just before Google bought them). I did outline a few of the filters and how I used them on some of the posts on my website. I typically use the filters at low levels and layer multiple filters with subtle effect to keep things looking natural and unique. The Show and Tell and Tips and Tricks categories on the blog will bring up most of those posts (been meaning to write a couple new ones)

ParticipantI too had a couple of B-sides:

Participant17-40L f4 being picked up Friday morning. So for those keeping score, that’s 0L’s to 2L’s in 24hrs. Will be selling the 11-16mm Tokina to help cover the cost. (anyone interested…?)

ParticipantThank you orionid, that morning yielded many great shots along the Yellowstone River. Woke up to heavy fog which ended up being a blessing in disguise. My first shot in the contest was from just down the road about 15 mins later or so.

ParticipantWell after looking at the cost to rent a UWA for the trip, decided it would be better just to buy a 17-40L. Probably sell my 11-16mm (or go crazy and mod it to fit the FF). So from 0 L lenses and a crop to two L lenses and a full frame, yup, that drained the funds, may end up having to sleep in the car on the PNW trip…
Last trip was Seattle/Vashon island – more of a family trip. This is a longer, and part of it will be with my folks, but about half of the time is going to be purely a photo trip. Flying into Seattle (cheaper than Portland), quick stop or two as I drive down to Portland, then though the Willamette valley and on to the coast stopping in Newport where my folks have a summer home. Couple days there (hope to get some photo time in the harbor and a run down to Thor’s Well) before heading back inland and back north to Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge. Then an evening at Cannon Beach, then north up to the Olympic Peninsula for a couple nights.
Yup, going to need that extra 16GB card that came with the 6D… yup…

ParticipantGreat shots. We had some mid-afternoon pop-up storms yesterday but they’d all collapsed by the time I got home for the camera gear.
