ParticipantYeah, a ND is certainly on my buy list now after this week, however must restrain from the graduated stuff till I can justify the cost. Damnit all of you so much. 😛 Between the XSi, 55-200mm, Cir polarizing, a couple UV’s, battery, 16gb, remote, oh, and Lightroom cause there’s only so much Picasa can do, I’m tapped out on camera $$ for a while. Must refocus my attention back to my upcoming custom bike delivery in about 2 mo.

Had to go dig this one up, as it’s about the only picture I’ve ever taken with people in it that I ever thought was half way worth a darn. Taken with Mishu’s (foreground) nikon DSLR – no idea what model, it was a few years ago.

ParticipantAwesomeness. And yes, no archive diving this time around. Reminds me though, I need to stop at the hardware store on the way home tomorrow.

ParticipantDarn it, you’re going to make me go upload some of my B’s to share as well. Stuck in that “too tired to do much, too early to call it a night” time frame.

See, wouldn’t this be a much better place to be than holed up studying for an exam?

ParticipantLots of great entries already this evening. Going to be hard to improve on last week’s best placed result.
A few of my B’s:

ParticipantHope your exam goes well. And you’re right, it was quiet around this forum today. I was bored stiff at work, not in the mood to do much work, exhausted after being up way too late working on a new bike I’m putting together and cursing when things were not going together correctly.

ParticipantBest I could find on B&H:

It actually has a ball head, and it’s less than $50. Who knows how good it is, but it looks interesting.Tripod arrived yesterday. Initial impressions are positive. 3 leg position stops, plenty of height, 2-piece column. Removing the lower section of the column is rather noisy, I may try to get a tad bit of silicone grease on the threads to quiet it down. Weight and folded size is right in the ballpark of what I was looking for. Very little plastic on it, mainly just the leg section locks and the few thumb knobs. Once this 3-day rain event we’re having ends I’ll try to get out and get some real world use out of it.

ParticipantDrat, I was going to suggest a Signs (difficulty: small business store fronts), but guess this one encompasses that one. Already hoppered, so guess I’ll wait for this one.

ParticipantThere goes my work productivity for the next month.

ParticipantThanks for the link to the previous battle. Probably skipping Strange so going to start work on AvO this week.
edit: are we going for specifically “battles” or, creative apple & orange content in general. Based on the original seems some of each was submitted.

ParticipantThanks Malivon. The one stained direction post among the winter gray was one of those “came out just how it looked” kind of shots.

ParticipantRight now two of mine are from Tahoe, one from San Francisco, all from the same trip this past July. I have one from an older trip to the Japanese Gardens in Portland that I’ve considered, and took a macro / narrow depth of field shot of some gravel today at the park, but likely stay with what I’ve got.

ParticipantPlam’s Sierra pics are wonderful. Wish I’d had more time and equipment during my Tahoe trip this summer. I’ve got one or two from that album that’ll likely end up in my selections.

ParticipantI agree on the truck orionid, however I had it wide open (or as wide as the kit lens would allow). I think part of it is that the focus got on the tree just behind the truck, thus throwing things off a tad. If I ever pick up a 50mm prime I’ll have to go back and reshoot that. Also when my new tripod comes in, that’ll help any future night photography jaunts around town. Going through today’s photos right now, so the Canon Photos album will likely be updated with some new stuff here shortly.

ParticipantVeloBase is 99.9% scratch built. Aside a few libraries and 3rd party controls (jquery, uploader, etc), it’s all my code on top of the .NET framework. There’s a ton of custom relationships and such in the system. I’ve considered trying to build a generic version of the site to market as a CMS, but there’s already enough of those out there. Hosting is with GoDaddy, recently upgraded to their ‘4G’ or what ever they call it hosting. IIS7, probably virtual servers, but it’s load balanced at some level. I have a logging function that tracks when the application is started, and usually see 4-5 of those entries at a time so I’m guessing that’s the size farm my app is running on currently. Not bad for less than $10 a month (running the ‘Deluxe’ level, unlimited bandwidth).
It’s a beautiful but windy day here in Dallas, so headed to the park with the camera since I didn’t get a ride in this morning, trying to do something that could be considered exercise.
