ParticipantI am blind and stupid.
I don’t know that I’d go that far. I didn’t catch that there was a difference between the $310 and the $440 lenses, either. They don’t exactly make that very clear.

ParticipantDid you see this listing from MKJAPAN on Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EF-100mm-f2-8-Macro/dp/B004FN4ACC/ref=sr_1_5?m=A30WVLN29YA4V2&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1393604682&sr=1-5&keywords=macro
They’ve got a 97% positive rating with 30 reviews and have it listed for $310+$30 shipping, so that’d save you $100 over the $440 price.

ParticipantBased on everyone’s B’s alone, this is gonna be a good (and tough) contest. Ended up with a few B’s myself.

ParticipantThat’s got potential. I haven’t seen much of that part of the state aside from driving through it a couple of times. Would definitely have to be fall or next spring, though.

ParticipantI’m partial to the squirrel, myself.

ParticipantIt’s good to hear from you, SilverStag. I was honestly just thinking about you this week while wondering what had happened to many of our used-to-be regulars. I’m sorry to hear about your health & mobility issues; I can certainly understand how that would be a big demotivator. I know it’s easy for me to say as I’m not in your shoes, but chin up! And best wishes for improvement in that area.
As for the upcoming Nikon lens sale, thanks for the notification, but ya know, some of us care about the equipment we use. 😛

ParticipantThanks Els! And to repeat what I posted in the Fark thread, congrats to ‘Cuda on your three-peat! That’s actually a pretty rare feat:
- U-Man had a four-peat starting with contest #232 and 3 three-peats starting with contests #258, 344, and 351
- Elsinore had a three-peat starting with contest #399
- And now Barracuda has a three-peat starting with contest #457.

ParticipantI’m in south Tulsa, so Amarillo is definitely out of day trip range.

ParticipantNeeded a break today, so I stole a few minutes away and dove for some quick entries. This is one of those “slippery” themes where you find yourself second-guessing whether or not a shot meets the spirit of the theme (or at least I did, anyway).

ParticipantPlanning on Caprock Canyon hiking on Friday, Palo Duro on Sat/Sunday, staying in one of the canyon rim cabins on Sunday night in hopes of getting some star trails or at least time lapse shots.
Yeah, you’re not making this any easier on me, ‘Cuda. If I wasn’t neck-deep in this rewrite and already committed to a spring break week w/ my sons, I’d love to explore some of that part of the country with y’all.
One of these days, we ought to make a serious effort toward a midwest farktographer’s meet ‘n greet; seems like we all enjoy the outdoors, so it’d just be a matter of scheduling.
Anyway, looking forward to the pix…

ParticipantJust get a bunch of monkeys with typewriters
I don’t think you understand; that’s how we got to this point in the first place! 😆
Also, I just came across this relevant quote this week:
We’ve heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true.

ParticipantHope everyone’s doing well out there. As for me, I’ve been tasked with rewriting in 8 weeks what someone else took a year-and-a-half to screw up, so I’m likely out for a while. Hope to see y’all on the other side…
