there’s some weirdness in the thread. A recently posted picture just showed up before the intro post.

no big deal, I think we have nearly identical couches. the fabric in your pug pictures looks just like ours.

nope, it’s a mink. they run around at shoreline around sunset and eat fish scraps and mussels and whatnot. hard as hell to get a clear picture of one, as it’s always getting dark when they come out. that was one out of about 30 shots that came out.

I haven’t tried reversing anything on my 180mm macro. that could be fun.

    what is that image?

I am that. I have no tolerance for things that can’t take a good thrashing.

I highly recommend the Chinese remote releases for bulb exposures. They’re anywhere from 1/10th to half the cost of OEM and have not given me any problems ever. I even closed one in a car door, leaving the control head dangling out above the pavement, and drove over 100 miles like that. the whole thing was encased in a good inch of ice when I stopped. It thawed out and worked fine.

that is cool. I didn’t realize it did that.

it’d be a great lens for reversing on the end of a tele macro, for those microscopic shots.

here’s a sage leaf with a macro lens:

here’s the same leaf with a 50mm reversed on the 100mm lens used to take the above:

dpp is still available from Canon. I’m downloading an update right now.

Without the original CD, the updates won’t install if it’s a new computer/fresh OS install, but you can trick it by doing the following:

    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste in the following:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECanonEOS Utility]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECanonDPP]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECanonZoomBrowser EX]

    3. Save the file as Canon.reg
    4. Double-Click the file and answer Yes when asked if you want to add the information to the registry.

I figured out a registry hack that lets you install Canon’s software. I never thought to call them.

    here’s my friend’s advice:

    *picassa
*capture one (free 30 day trial)
*aperture (if you’re on a mac)
*you should be able to get Nikonview from Nikon with just your serial number of your camera as proof of ownership

I’m sending your question to a friend that shoots Nikon.

Is there no Nikon software you can download for RAW conversion?

I think I’ll save it for some other contest. I’ve got enough dirt/rust/mud/etc to use for this contest.

is this brown enough to work? holga shot. the whole thing came off kind of brown (using expired color film), but then there’s a lot of green in the shot.
