ParticipantSilly question (sort of). do cadences count? I posed this to hubby and both he and his friend piped up with a particular one (that I need one item for, actually) but it’s a cadence they both did (Hubby was Army, Friend was ROTC and something about Marines and a screw up with medical records). Anyway, the lyrics/cadence in question has been around so long it’s a traditional now, but it was modified and put into song. So, do cadences count?
But where are you going to find a cat in an atiqik and mucklucks?
/The only good marine is a submarine

It’s a song, right? Go for it. I didn’t limit by genre anyway. Classical, rock, blues, whatever.

again, much much appreciated. it is a shot i’m quite proud of. i might have hurt my shoulder patting myself. and, honestly, that doesn’t happen often.

ParticipantI’m stuck on #3. There’s a bunch from the archives I could wedge into this theme but nothing I’d be proud of.

ParticipantSome of my favorite songs are that of Classical Music.
Summon the Heroes, The Olympic Spirit, The 1812 Overture, Farandole.
The only one of these I even REMOTELY have a picture for is the 1812. I have gone to the DC 4th of the July concert for the past three years.
If you fellow farktographers were going to do these songs…any suggestions??

I’ve seen a lot of Win! done with Leggos, and such things. You can always think small rather than big.

ParticipantFor Summon the Heroes, any kind of picture of veterans or a veterans statue, maybe?
For The Olympic Spirit, perhaps some kind of home-made replica of the Olympic rings logo? Or maybe something that resembles an Olympic torch?

Participant1812?
/Not using it. I’ve got…other ideas. Something with ‘splosions might work well though.
Bizet would be tough. Dancers in a wedding come to mind. http://www.sfsymphony.org/music/ProgramNotes.aspx?id=38424
‘Summon the Heroes’ almost screams football players coming on to the pitch to me.
I’ve shied away from the classical, personally, just because most of the pieces I could think of are a bit too esoteric for really capturing in a single image. I had some ideas, but they all needed at least a month’s planning =/

I’m trying to stick to stuff the common farker might know. My search involved finding lists of the top 100-300 songs of the 20th century (which included such songs as ‘Give My Regards to Broadway’ and ‘Tumbling Tumbleweeds’), then trying to determine what 1) people would know, despite their age 2) I could actually photograph.
And I had three good ideas, except when I went to the Phoenix Zoo Lights, the ‘lion’ exhibit was not part of the show (was gonna go for the Token’s “Lion Sleeps Tonight”.) *fail*
I have two. One might even get votes. I’m stuck on #3 (unless I settle for the house cat as a ‘lion’).
The difficult part of ‘classical’ music is so many people wouldn’t know it by title and picture alone. Holst’s ‘The Planets’ came to my mind, but my shots of the planets are not exactly Hubble-worthy (which people now take for granted) and not many people would know who Holst was to begin with.
I’m still searching for #3.

ParticipantI finaly started workin on this theme today. Doh!!
I might have a good one or two idea wise and one I like already. This is a real challenge!November 29, 2010 at 1:10 am #34239Choc-Ful-A
Participant…
did we decide on hints? titles? linking to the song on you tube?
I didn’t see an answer on the subject of including info about the album/song. I’ve only got one so far and it doesn’t needs hints or links. The people that know it will get it and nobody else is likely to care. 🙂 But the second idea I have would need a link since it’s not a group that’s widely known. If it’s allowed I’d post a link to the album if I went ahead with that idea. So, what are the guidelines for what info we can post in the text of our entries this week?
