Well, it’s odd. I keep getting “server hangup” when I try to navigate around their site. I can occasionally get a page to load but probably every 10th or 12th attempt.
It’s not browser specific and I’m not having any trouble anywhere else at the moment.
Anyway, no submission from me this week!!
June 16, 2011 at 3:49 am #16821andyofneParticipantI hope no one is relying on flickr tonight… I can’t even get the site to load reliably tonight.

I hope you’ll hang out here a bit, ask questions, participate–you’ll find you’ll become a better photographer, and that pays in spades outside the contests. But besides all of that–it’s fun to do!!I had to lol a little. I’ve been a member on the site since 2008. 🙂
I just don’t participate as much as I want. [/quote]
June 9, 2011 at 2:36 pm #38065andyofneParticipantI have to ask: Am I the only one who still owns an analog clock? I thought there would be several similar entries and it would just do –meah– because of it.
That clock was purchased for ‘All Night Long’; nice to have gotten to repurpose it for this contest. Makes the $5 investment only $2.50 per contest.
Nope. I have a bunch of them. See, I work in a medical clinic and the drug reps used to bring free “gift’ clocks in for the doctors. But, truth be told, the doctor’s never liked that stuff. I mean, who is going to take a cheap plastic clock with some lame drug logo in the clock face and hang it in their million dollar house?
Anyway, I jacked a bunch of those clocks and printed photos I liked and put them inside as the face. It’s not as exciting as it sounds but I’ve given a couple away as gifts (yes, I realize that sounds cheap).
for instance, my evil step mother loves VW bugs so I took a photo of her bug and used it as the clock face. She loves it.
Anyway… I thought your clock scan-pic was very cool.

June 9, 2011 at 4:48 am #38070andyofneParticipantIt’s a fuzzy limit…180k-200k, but under 150k is better, and under 130k is safer still. If you’re hosting with Flickr and using one of their resized versions, it likely has file size bloat because they use very high quality compression to create those smaller sizes. It’s best if you upload a Fark sized file and use the original of that to post to Fark.
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve had any problems. I had one file that was 189k and it wouldn’t work (*too large*).
Thanks though. Finally got 3 to go up.
June 9, 2011 at 4:27 am #38072andyofneParticipantI can’t get any of my images up. I keep getting file size too large errors.
What is the the limit? I haven’t seen this issue in a few years.
June 4, 2011 at 7:00 pm #38100andyofneParticipantI’ve been playing around with my flatbed scanner but I’m not overly impressed. I tried a couple of things so at least I’ll have something to submit.
May 29, 2011 at 5:31 pm #38264andyofneParticipantI probably shouldn’t even mention this since it took me so long to verify it…. but andyofne’s 2011-05-26 12:12:18 AM post is a Scarlet R from the first go ’round of this contest.
And, of course, voting is closing in what, 4 minutes? 😛
I wouldn’t even have noticed, but I made a lolcat out of it back in the day. 😉
I feel so dumb. I had eye surgery on Tuesday and was wearing a patch Wednesday when I selected my pix. I made an effort to check to see if I used any of them before but I missed it.
I need an “I haz a sad cat.” pic.

Oh, how embarrassing!
May 28, 2011 at 1:39 am #32618andyofneParticipantI’m in the market for a new Point & shoot camera but I want one that is smaller and more compact than the Fuji though I have looked at it as an option. I want one with full 1080p HD video.
August 26, 2010 at 1:45 pm #31554andyofneParticipantFifteen years in the Military and I couldn’t find anything I wanted to submit.
I scanned in a bunch of my old 35mm photos but the quality was just too poor for my taste.
I could have sworn I had some good shots somewhere. 🙂
August 13, 2010 at 3:39 am #32319andyofneParticipantAh, I see “Niantic” as your location. I grew up in Stonington/Mystic but moved away in the late 70s. I spent a lot of time in Old Lyme and Old Saybrook in later years but I haven’t been back there since probably 1998 or so.
“Mystic”? Isn’t there a pizza joint there? I heard they’re the bomb, but the waitresses have big teeth and an annoying laugh…
When i was a kid, my mother worked at the real Mystic Pizza. When she worked there it was owned/run by a guy named Ted Haines or something like that.
August 12, 2010 at 5:45 pm #32313andyofneParticipantI was kinda taken aback by the short notice on this one, but Kestrana and I just figured now we have an excuse to visit the Mystic Aquarium.
You must be near my home town. Tell me how things look if you go. I miss it.
I think we’re going Saturday or Sunday.
