ParticipantGood points both. Problem eliminating EF-S mounts is that it limits my wide angle options greatly. Lenses seem to hold their value quite well after that initial ‘new’ to ‘used’ hit, so buy used to sell doesn’t have much of a hit as long as I take care of the lens. And I figure I will always have some sort of crop sensor around since I do so much hiking and nature walks with the camera. The flexibility of the 15-85 for hiking is one of the biggest reasons I’m considering it. Pack the bag with it and the 100mm Macro and I’m pretty much set for everything aside perhaps long range birds.

ParticipantSo, how much do you think the price of a lightly used 60D is going to drop between now and November when the 70D is finally available? Thinking if I can pick one up or $550 now and flip it in 5 months for a moderate loss it may be worth it for the low light abilities. With the Texas summer heat setting in, I can see me doing more evening/night photography that the 60D would be far better for over my XSi.

ParticipantSorry to hear about the jeep, and hopefully the nephew will recover from the ordeal and not follow in his father’s footsteps.

ParticipantThinking Thanksgiving – Xmas time will be about right to upgrade. Got to say, picking up my XSi after a week with the 60D was kinda strange. 😆

ParticipantB-side (quite literally) for this week. B-24 Liberator “Diamond Lil”, one of two still flight worthy Liberators left.

ParticipantThanks Yugoboy and all. Think the wife and I have turned the corner on the mourning of our little pup, but I’m sure they’ll be difficult moments yet to come.
A couple more photos from both the trip and after:

ParticipantDecided to make the most of what time I have left on my BorrowLenses rental and head to the aviation museum in Addison tomorrow morning. Hope to get a few ‘new’ photos for this contest instead of diving back to last year’s Evergreen Aviation museum and Mineral Wells Veterans Memorial shots. 🙂

ParticipantThanks all. Tried to burn off some frustration this afternoon doing some processing on the shots I did get. Rather disappointed with what I did get this morning on my hike before I turned back and then home, but yesterday did yield a few keepers.
The good stuff is being posted up here: https://plus.google.com/photos/102637182371352471338/albums/5894272197174440657?banner=pwa
Oh, Rav, this is the best I got last night of the night sky, a glimpse of the milky way is all I got on the right side of the frame, but unfortunately this one I was running a tad too long on shutter speed for the focal length as these were supposed to just be some test shots.

The good news in all of this is that the sunset last night did yield some shots worth the trip.
