yeah, considered the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, but decided I wanted the 15mm low end and the longer 85 on the other end over the constant f2.8 so went with the canon lens. Next time I get some extra $$$ for glass I may consider the 70-300 or the 17-55 f2.8 Tamron options. Having the constant 2.8 on the 11-16mm should provide me enough for indoor work along with the better ISO performance of the 60D.

rav – I ran across some info on that 70-300 during my reading, but I really really really really don’t need to be upgrading another lens right now. 2 lenses and a body in a week is enough. Going to probably sell the XSi to help cover some of this as it is.

New in box off local Craigslist – so new the battery was sealed and the body was still in both the bubble wrap and the inner paper. Figure I’ll come out ahead this way over renting a 60D or any other body for any trips between now and when I’d be able to realistically afford the 70D.

So a 15-85 should be in route some time tomorrow, it’s coming from the south end of the state (but being Texas that doesn’t mean it’ll be an instant shipment). Hopefully Monday arrival. Also have an offer email out to a couple of CL listings for a NIB 60D and a 11-16mm f2.8. The first I’m likely to own by week’s end, the other I’ll see if they accept my offer price.

Sooooooo… I’m probably going to be getting a 15-85 in the next week… along with a 60D. Figure if the 70D isn’t going to be in stock till some time September, by the time the preorders are shipped and such, don’t figure I’d be able to get anything shy of MSRP for at least 6mo. So, get the 60D now that the majority of the price hit has already happened to the ‘old’ model and either keep it as a backup and sell the XSi or sell the 60D some time down the road when I get the 70D… or what ever the next body will be.
