The G+ thing is still all new to me, so I need to figure out the ins and outs and spiffy up my profile eventually.

Ditto. One thing I’m already not the biggest fan of is when I post pictures from my albums into G+ it copies the photo into another specific album. I kinda get why for security/sharing, but it’s slightly annoying. But seems like a fun way to share more photos and keep myself interested in it.

re: elbows, never lock your arms when riding. Your elbows provide a lot of shock absorption for your upper body. Ideally, your upper arms should be parallel with the fork blades/head tube, forearms at a flatter angle. I think if you rotate those bars upwards some, till the end of the drop section is flat with the ground, you’ll be happier.

This is a more typical setup:

though may be a tad bit too far in the other direction. The important part is that your elbows and wrists are in comfortable fairly relaxed positions.

As far as the seat goes, as long as your comfortable, that’s all that matters. I know a lot of guys who won’t trade their piece of stretched leather for the newest wonder saddle of any shape for the world, etc. I start having problems with more padded saddles starting to chafe/rub in uncomfortable ways far sooner than the sit bones start complaining these days, but it takes a fairly regularly cycling routine to get to that point. Though, if my saddle is too firm, my glutes/IT band take too much of a beating and those start to complain, so it’s a trade off that takes a while to hone in on, and can and probably will change over time.

I was just thinking “wonder if Fluffy’s posted a picture of his bike yet”. Looks like a good rig once you get the zip ties cut down. I can’t quite tell from the angle of the bars, but looks like they may be rotated too far down right now. Looks like the ends of the bars are pointed slightly upward, normally they are either parallel with the ground, or even slightly pointed downward to give the best comfort in the drops. But ultimately, it’s what ever is comfortable for the rider, I don’t have much experience with shimano’s STI shifters to give you any recommendations on the angle that gives the best comfort for the hands. What’s attached to the stem, GPS of some sort?

Overall, looks like you’ve got yourself a solid bike that’ll provide plenty of good miles of service without beating you up.

Dave Kirk emailed me the studio photos of my bike that he took before boxing it up and shipping it to me. Really shows off the colors better than the photos I’ve taken so far:

Blasted, not only did I never make it down to White Rock Lake to get some new photos, but completely forgot last night to post what I’d dug up from the archives. Finally have mine submitted this morning, better late than never.

Great photos all around. Kes, I have a friend of the family who did several voyages on the Eagle while at the USGC academy, but have to say that the shot of the USS Nautilus is one of my favorites thus far. Wore out my mouse clicking the ‘Best’ btn this morning, if the votes are low this week, it isn’t my fault! 😆

Moon on April 6th @ 9:46pm. Was fairly large to the naked eye being still quite low on the horizon, hazy conditions so clarity isn’t great, but paired with the 300mm Nikon w/ doubler made for a nice full frame of the moon.

The wild flowers are in full bloom here in Texas. The park near by seeds several areas of the grounds each year, bluebonnets (Texas state flower) for the most part, but several others as well. So of course my wife wanted to get a few photos of our corgi in the bluebonnets, and I took the opportunity to take some w/o the dog as well.

More wild flower photos towards the bottom of my Parks & Nature album (link in post above and original post)

Great photos. For some reason the sepia tones on the two don’t really do much for the feel of the photos to me. Maybe in a larger size it would be more effective, or maybe it’s just me. Oh, and that first shot of the castle wide open gives me vertigo just looking at it. 😮

I’ll say that this particular sea plane sat in the water far more than it ever say the skies. It’s now been entombed in museums for many many years. Digging through the archives, I’ve got enough other options that I really don’t need that shot anyways, but thought I’d ask. Still hoping that I can get down to White Rock Lake this weekend to shoot the sailboat races, but my weekend looks pretty full atm.

Can I get a ruling on flying-boats that haven’t seen water in 40+ years?

Being an admin on one of the largest cycling forums on the web, I find this both hilarious, and far far far too close to the truth. Campy vs Shimano, Michelin vs Continental vs VeloFlex, Mavic vs Zipp vs hand build wheels, Lance vs Doping, Lemond vs Lance, Spring Classics vs Grand Tours, Road vs MTB vs Fixie, Trek vs Specalized vs Cervelo vs Cannondale vs … (that list is endless)
