ParticipantOnly issues I’ve had were with a crazy duck lady at the park around the corner. She’s shouted at me a couple times not to take photos of her. Keep biting my tongue instead of responding with something nasty about wanting to find better subjects to photograph than her ugly mug.

ParticipantThanks Elsinore and CISS.

ParticipantFYI – I’m departing for Montana Saturday morning. I’ll post mine before I leave, but if any questions come up, basically if there’s a flow of water with a source and a general direction, I’m good with it.

ParticipantBlasted, completely forgot to post last night. Ohs well… didn’t have anything super great anyways.

ParticipantWell, ending up picking up one of the Tamron 70-300 VC’s, most of the samples I’ve seen are pretty good, and figured for the price they were going for used I could flip it after my trip for less than I could rent one them (let alone the 70-300L I was looking at) for the time I’ll be on my trip. Also, given the smoke in the area wildfires, there may not be much use in using a telephoto for any long shots if they end up looking like they were taken from downtown Beijing. Here’s to hoping the fires are under control in the next two weeks so I don’t end up with bronchitis by the time I get ready to do the cycling part of the trip!

ParticipantGreat show indeed! I was bummed last night, I’d had one too many margaritas during dinner and I come out of the restaurant to head home (wife was driving) and saw this awe-inspiring anvil head cloud lit up by the evening light, no other clouds around, just this one towering cell – would have been perfect for this week’s farktography theme even. Wasn’t going to ask the wife to be my designated driver on a photo trip. 😆

ParticipantDon’t think I did any increase in clarity in Lightroom before exporting to Silver Efex Pro, so it’s probably a result of the structure boost in there that did the haloing. If I recall, I did start with one of the high-structure presets as a starting point.

Participantennuipoet, I’ve noticed that some of the icons and stuff doesn’t work well in IE, at least IE9. Going to try to do some custom css stuff to get those working, will share the fixes if you wish.
thanks orionid!

Participantit’s a wordpress site with the lensa theme. Took me all of about an hour to get it up and going, most of that figuring out what pictures I wanted for the front page flipper. Still working out how to manage the albums and such.

ParticipantAlright, got around to setting up a photography blog/site/portfolio on my old domain. It’s still very much a work in progress, but at least for the foreseeable future the domain will be: http://jonpfischer.com

ParticipantI could just take the old Nikon 300mm f/4 and the doubler I have for that… but talk about slow focus – it’s manual! 😆 I may take the 135mm f/2.8, something about that old lens’s bokeh and contrast that just can’t be reproduced on my 100mm macro and post production.
Barracuda
ParticipantFair enough.

ParticipantHey Barracuda: is your 2013-08-06 07:12:49 PM HDR?
Nope. Just a lot of fill light and probably a bit too much sharpening/clarity. I can certainly see the HDR like look and thought about putting a disclaimer in the post.

Participantoddmind, what lens were you using for that awesome sunstar on the water droplet?
