    Help!
I haven’t posted in a few weeks, and I seem to be having problems with imageshack (my usual hosting service).
Not sure if I am over the max image size (140kb). Anyone got any good free hosting service they can recommend?
    Please?

What, I was only kidding! Elsewise, I’d have posted a Fic. Sheez. Can’t youz peepholes get a joke?

    🙂

    ;-P

I can’t get all of mine in one shot; I don’t have an ultra wide-angle lens
    🙁

So far my plans are (1) a stapler spoofing Picasso’s blue period, (2) a stapler with a mini volleyball with a stapler face drawn on it, and (3) a stapler overdosing while IMing someone about being hardcore.

Past experience tells me they’ll all turn out to be harder than I thought, so I’ll give up, wallow in self pity, get drunk and weep to myself while watching old youtube videos of S/mileage working for their major debut.

WHICH WOULD BE AN EASY SHOT BUT SOME JERK SAID NO SELF PORTRAITS!

Bejezus, I laughed SO hard I either gave meself a hernia or a woody, I’m not sure which yet!!

Turns out it was a woody. Serendipity!!

Way, WAAAAYYYYYY too much information there, ravnostic 😯

I love my fisheye. 8mm Olympus (equivalent to 16mm on a full frame). Lots of fun, but yeah, it’s not the same as an ultra-wide. Just looking at that lens, and the Sigma and Canon fisheyes, it does appear that the longer focal lengths are all diagonals:
    Olympus 8mm (= 16mm FF) diagonal
    Sigma 15mm (FF) diagonal
    Sigma 8mm (FF) circular
Sigma 10mm (APC only) diagonal (not 180 degrees on Canon APC)
    Sigma 4.5mm (AOC only) circular
    Canon 15mm diagonal

One of the cheapest options would be a Peleng fisheye. No AF, but with its depth of field, that is not going to be a problem.
    There’s a review here: http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/254-peleng-8mm-f35-fisheye-converted-to-eos-mount-test-report–review

Most of the V-series camera bodies can use a digital back. I think the absolute cut-off are the 500’s made in the late-fifties, but I’d want something from the late seventies or early eighties to get better integration.

There’s a Hasselblad with lens going for about $6500 dollars secondhand in a shop near me. It’s that or that wife.
    *sigh*

Oh well, married life was fun.

Sorry I’m just now getting back to this. The photos have been restored along with a couple other folks who had theirs drop into the ether. No clue why they dropped, but one was 147k. Technically the Fark file size limit is 200k, but the limit’s kinda fuzzy, and photos between 150k-180k are more likely to hang (and subsequently drop into the ether) than photos under that. I’m not sure there’s much you or we could do when something hangs like that. It’s possible Imageshack (or whatever image host) is experiencing issues with specific servers, so possibly an email into their support system when you notice one or more of your photos aren’t loading. I will say that anecdotally, Imageshack images seem to get dropped more often than Flickr images, but I haven’t done any hard number comparisons. Just about all image servers have had issues at one time or another, though.

Thanks anyway. It’s back up, not that it makes much difference for votes…this has been one of my worst competitions ever 😥

Tried to restore it, but the image is still not loading from your host, so I can’t. I’ll try to check back later and see if it’s loading again.

Thanks. Is there anything I can do to help? I used imageshack, by the way (dunno if that helps).

One of my entries (under the handle No Catchy Nickname) seems to have gone for a Burton. Can you lovely Mods fix it, please?

Ooo check this out. Available in Olympus 4/3…dunno if there’s an OM to 4/3 adapater, but maybe this is a start?

They have tilt adapters but they appear to be macro only and don’t include anything but Nikon or Canon.

As for a Lensbaby, I have one, and no, it won’t really do the same thing. Their field of focus is very distorted, like it’s a cone shape, sort of. You can stop it down and decrease some of it, but ultimately you just don’t have the kind of control over the tilt or shift that you really need. And they don’t really shift that much. they’re fun to play with, though!

Thanks! That does look like a good place to start ($600? That’s cheap, right? If I exchange the dollar sign for a yen sign, I can get that past the wife 😉 ).
I just remembered that the newer Olympus E-system bodies have aspect control, so I think you can shoot with the same aspect as a large frame camera. That *may* reduce distortion to some extent. Problem is, I have one of the older models.
    *sigh

And I would like to get my hands on a Lensbaby this year…

No! It’s my precioussssssss! All of it! 😆

Seriously, though, I think there is an adapter out there that can turn your lenses into either a tilt or shift lens. Can’t remember who makes it (Saw it last year online somewhere), but you might look into it, especially since you’d probably need shift more than tilt for building shots, and that can save you money just getting the adapter.

Precioussssssss? Fancy playing a game of riddles, then? 😉

I’ll have look for the adapter. I don’t supppose a Lensbaby would work? They shift and tilt, don’t they, but also blur.

I actually almost used a tilt-shift miniature fake for tonight, but I decided the particular photo I was considering didn’t have enough real emphasis on the architecture and was more about the tilt-shift effect. So another time for that one…

Hey, when you don’t need it anymore, can I have your stuff?

    Pretty please?

And this competition made me realise just how much I would like a nice T/S lens. Problem is, Olympus, whose DSLR I use, don’t make one for their E range. There is one for the OM range, but it’s impossible to find.
I could get a Canon one for my (newly bought, second-hand) EOS-3, but as I don’t have any lenses yet for it (apart from an FD 100m f2 and converter), I don’t really think a T/S lens should be top priority.

Oh yeah, the clincher: the wife would of course kill me if I drop mega bucks on a new lens 😥

I have an idea as to what happened, milady – when trying to post, I had two Farktography.net windows going.

Oh, so that’s what happened. I thought you were doing an Internet messageboard mime act.

This is the camera of a Farktography Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a digital camera; an elegant camera for a more civilized age. For over a thousand competitions, the Farktography Knights were the guardians of focus and exposure on the old Fark boards. Before the dark times… before the days of HDR.

/sort of popped into my head
