ParticipantKnew I shouldve been ready on time to get the first jellyfish, now do I want to try to go even more trolly than ennuipoet for my last entry?

ParticipantHow did it become Wednesday already?

ParticipantLinguine, your Yosemite HDR is fantastic!
Thanks

ParticipantIm not sure I like the idea of the themes being open on TF for a week before it goes green but if we did a couple of days that could make it easier for European farkers to participate. I’m not sure if we have ayn European regulars right now but I remember the current setup wasn’t that friendly for past European farktographers.

ParticipantNothing like cats to drive up participation and voting.

ParticipantNow I’m second thinking…damn…how do we thread the consistency needle on this one?
Yeah, that’s the line of thinking that got me asking for an opinion in the first place. 😉
So, as Els mentioned above, the opinion I sought from her should really be a group consensus. How much territory does/should “hootenanny” cover? The specific technique I’m asking about consists of stacking two or more shots of the same scene with slightly different settings and then selectively allowing sections of one or the other to be visible.
Here are links to a couple of examples:
// Originally wanted to keep this on the down-low ’cause I know y’all are some creative sumbitches. 😛 But, as you can see, the idea didn’t exactly originate with me.
I would be fine with allowing those, theyre different from anything thats been done before but I wouldn’t say they’re out of line with whats been done for the previous hootenanies.(and they’re pretty cool)

ParticipantNOTE: No pasting or moving subjects not in the original photo(s) like in a PS contest.
Only caveat is that you still can’t cut/paste objects into or out of the photos as you would for a PS contest. (e.g. simple retouching is fine, removing light poles not so much)
So I find myself also in need of some clarification on this one. The first quote (from the theme’s description) seems to imply combining elements from different photos is OK as long as they’re all original photos (i.e., no clipart or digitally “painting” non-existent subjects). But the second quote (from the Fark discussion thread) seems to rule that out, in which case my entry in the previous incarnation of this theme should’ve been disqualified as each moon is a separate shot and wasn’t present in the original background photo.
Did I get by with a rule violation on the previous contest or am I trying to interpret the theme rules too strictly?
Im only seeing “No pasting or moving subjects not in the original photo(s)” in the description so I think your old entry was fine.

ParticipantNeat shots and scientifically useful, too – awesome! And you’re interning at a national park? Color the younger me envious!
This is my second park and I also was at a wildlife refuge between the two parks. Its been at a lot of fun, especially for something that I stumbled into on the idea that it beats selling insurance. Hopefully I’ll get a real job out of this one day.

ParticipantVery cool! I wonder if the scientists who tag them could get any important info from your pics?
Thanks, I did give to tag numbers to the condor team out here since Im interning on the park(newest national park too!), they track the condors movements and I know it was useful for them since I got shots of two condors theyve been trying to monitor as possible breeding pair thats been hanging out together a lot recently.
I saw two tag styles, so I’m guessing they’re either from different areas or are 2 different generations… there’s gotta be a condor preservation organization or the like who’d love to see these.
I think the tag styles are just for different sets of 100s although there could be more to it than that, I could find out this week if youre interested.

ParticipantDidn’t find any, I take it? I didn’t think I had much to work with but wound up with a few extra b-sides here. Since Elvis’ birthday was this week, I almost went with the pink Cadillac instead of my daughter in pink.
Didn’t find anything that I was that happy with or wouldn’t have been a fairly liberal interpretation of what is pinkish.

ParticipantO shit its wednesday, why didnt anyone tell me earlier. Guess its time to search the archives to see if I have any pink in there.
