i’d be down with that – the one pic i have is of crosses, but i am in no way, shape or form even a little bit catholic. or even religious. OR spiritual.

if you don’t mind, stapler, i’ll just lift your text from that post?

Could you leave out the part about the dance?

    *sigh*

    i suppose so. 😛

schnee – if you think that’s bad, you should see what us athiests/agnostics have to do to even SPEAK to a person of religious bent.

it’d boil yer cabbage, i tells ya.

don’t forget to vote in the poll in the themes section for “religion vs. religion + spirituality” for this week’s contest. 145 views and 7 votes! whichever gets the most votes will be the theme title (ie should we forget the spirituality part)

    home tomorrow! wheee! 😀

hey veruca! i totally forgot about the poll! hee hee. i’ll be sure to check it before posting the boobies.

and bobroberts – i got your email so we should be all set! and i can email schnee to update the fsm with the proper ##s – he’s used to hearing from me. 😛

your film/sensor has a much smaller dynamic range than your eyes do – i.e. something in the shadows that you can see perfectly well may come out pretty darned dark in the photo (depending on where you meter from/type of metering). couple of work arounds – use a fill flash to banish the shadows; spot meter on your friends faces (altho’ the sunny spots will probably get blown out then); move them into the sun; take multiple pics and composite an HDR shot.

i guess i’m not really sure about the whole sun position question; other than don’t shoot directly at it i don’t know much (and even that rule is made to be broken).

what do you mean ‘ruined by shadows’? as in portions of the picture are way too dark? or there are shadows in unfortunate places? or are the shadows making faces and flipping off the camera?

    😀

oh, thank you elsinore! i did use a lensbaby, and somehow that one caught the edge of the sun as it was going down, hence the rays. i love that shot.

just a general opinion question – i have some shots that i consider to be portraits even though it’s not a photo of someone’s face. for example – a ballet dancer’s feet. or a pregnant woman’s belly. ok, those are the two that i have. 😛

what are peoples’ thoughts on that? i feel that it captures the essence of what that person is doing at that time – their character and the place they are in their life at that moment, which (to me) qualifies it as a portrait.

    great shot…

thank you – it was a fun shoot. 😛

i think he was just asking for opinions, not recruiting. if he was recruiting, he could have just emailed the people whose work he was interested in and given them a proposition. no reputable stock site would just pirate images from a photo contest – it would open them up to all sorts of repurcussions.

i’m also fine with the idea. i actually keep meaning to submit some stuff to a few stock companies to see how i do, but i’ve been too busy lately.

obviously, there are some things i wouldn’t sell as stock, but most of it i wouldn’t have any problem with.

since you were aware that your belly was being photographed it would be a portrait under that definition…
    .

well, it’s not MY belly, but it was an organized shoot.
