ParticipantJust trying to see if I’m smart enough to figure out how to use this new fangled forum.
And good work people. Also I should say that I thought Monkeybort was a guy before tonight. I should read profiles more often. 😉no worries, it’s a fairly gender neutral name!! *grin*

ParticipantHi DrewsMom! welcome to the farktography forum!
monkeybort
Participantmaybe at this point we can just say if we’re interested in participating. i haven’t thought the whole thing through, like how people feel about privacy issues. if people want to participate there would have to be an address even if it’s a just post office box number.
of course. i’m just really excited about it!!! and have no problem with my address being available. i think that when it gets to the implementation stage you (we) should include a sheet of paper with the participants names/addresses on it, and then as we send the camera on to the next person we make a note of the frame # that we shot so we can match faces with places when it gets posted. of course, if we mail it in order, figuring out frames should be pretty simple.

ParticipantWhat say we use a disposable camera with 24 or 36 exposures in a pass the camera project? one shot each then send it on to the next person on the list. when last frame is shot we have the film developed and upload the pix to the farktography website in a gallery we can create for that purpose?
ooo you know i can dig it. should we email you with mailing address?

ParticipantHI
Do Mods respond in PS forum?
I’d like my entry envotinated
time stamp 2005-12-21 08:11:23 PMIt looks like there may be a place for tech/mod here.
Maybe I’ll give it a go..unless there’s a mod here?
(hoping)I don’t think any mods here are mods on FARK as well. Correct me if I’m wrong?
not it. *grin* i’m pretty sure you’re right, unless staplermofo has a deep dark secret.

ParticipantLooking for suggestions for good mobile lighting solutions. My photos come out with this pink tinge using my current setup (architects lamp on dining room table). Any suggestions?
do you shoot digital? as a temporary measure you could set a custom white balance to negate the pinkishness until you come up with some lighting solutions.

Participantokay, 800 iso, waterproof
i saw one with zoom. is that a good idea? i’ve never seen one with a zoom…that is entering unheard of realms of fanciness for a disposable!
after more thought, i like the waterproof. a) because i too am a klutz and b) we could get some really cool underwater/droplets/rain/snow shots with it.

Thank you, thank you all, but you have no idea how little work I’ve done, so really, not an issue.
you’re definitely going to be beered if you’re ever in nova scotia!
so, may as well mention the “Pass the Farkamera Project” eh? hehe
i propose to buy one of those disposable cameras with say 24 or 36 exposures, then anyone who wants to participate can sign up and we’ll send it around the world. one shot each then the last one on the list has it developed and uploads the pix or sends the cd for one of us to upload (details sketchy at this point but you get the idea) so we can all see the pix.
i did have a look at them in the store and found there is a bewildering array of choices. i’ve never used one so could use some advice re: the best one for the job?
they all use 800 ISO film (at least, every single one i developed while working at the photo lab did), so not much choice there. i think our main choices are flash/no flash, and waterproof/not waterproof? i would say no flash and i am indifferent about the waterproof issue.

Participantoooh, paging veruca!
ardvaark = mascot?
That or I nominate monkeybort’s smoking baby. Haha. It keeps making me laugh.
why not use both? *grin* i could probably whip something up when i get back from FL.
but if you’re serious, let me know and i’ll email you the file. or you can just grab it from the forum if’n ya want to.
idle_hands and I were discussing some projects maybe for the future – mine was adopting a farktography mascot and sending it around the world to be photgraphed by our collective selves in odd/weird locations. what do you think?
that, in addition to idle’s idea of sending a disposable camera around the country/world to our various participants, sounds like SO MUCH FUN.

Participantthere’s no rush about any of this imho i’m tickled that we have an up and running forum! thank you so much sythemesc 😀

it’s far more than i would hvae been able to do….i wouldn’t have even known where to start! so it’s definitely a hearty-thanks-worthy (and beer-worthy, if you’re ever in WY!) task as far as i’m concerned.

ParticipantHi it’s me GalleyWench, but I can’t login!
on the top of the screen on the right there should be a login button….it took me a bit to figure it out, too! i think i’m just too used to Fark – i don’t even need my password there anymore.
/god bless firefox, every one.

ParticipantHeh, “guest” is me in the last post.
and in the next one! *grin*

Participantdo you think it’s farktography that keeps crashing the fark servers? i suppose we’re probably sucking a lot of bandwidth at this point!
monkeybort
Participantaww, thanks! love your old camera shots (there’s something about grandpa’s camera, right?), and that smoking baby cracks me up. do they even make those anymore? 😛
well, i got it two or three years ago from a boyfriend – he went on a road trip and that was his present to me when he returned.
and i love that argus – the fact that he carried with him to guam, and had it with him in the midst of all that craziness is just the coolest thing.
the canon is the first SLR i ever had – that thing is a tank, as well.
