Will I get ban-hammered or have my post deleted for using the phrase “bar-slut?”

    *giggle*

I don’t think so. I’ve seen worse on Fark.

    bar-slut

    Hey NBD,

The site looks good (design wise).

    Some things I noticed*:
Have your gallery links go to the specific galleries instead of just the landing page (that way people can see what you taken more easily from the homepage), or at least the most recent X galleries.
Have the galleries link up the top go to the gallery landing page automatically instead of just a page with the link.
Your venue count is out by one.
The link to Backlash in the right hand text area doesn’t work.

    Hope that is helpful.

    *Feel free to ignore me

    Swampa:
Eventually as I get more band gigs listed I will put links to the recent ones in the right sidebar.

I am trying to get the Galleries link to point to the galleries landing page but I am not a php expert so I am still working on that.

Any php people out there that can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

The #3 before the venue bar is not the count, it is to keep the links in order. Unfortunately it is the only way to keep the sidebar links in the order I want them. It is a WordPress issue that they say will be resolved in future updates.

The Backlash link works for me, maybe their site was down when you clicked? who knows…

guine: Scroll down the page you’ll see a link. I am working on changing that but right now it’s all I got.

Thanks on the main pic. It’s one of my favorites.

Great shots this week, everyone! And thanks for the thoughts/concerns/”good energies.” Not 100% sure if I’ll be able to participate this coming week, but things are looking up. On the topic of doubles/triples, I saw quite a few while living in Hawaii. Also, counting the doubles and triples as a single entity, I still saw an average of 1.2 rainbows per day while living there. Strangely, I never really got around to photographing many of them. I really miss the midwest though, where you can see one complete rainbow, end-to-end taking up the entire sky.

here’s a smattering from my flickr stream
Some of these have been submitted before, but what the hey, everyone likes rainbows. A quick story about the first two shots that show up: They’re the same rainbow/day/time/location, etc, with different cameras. I had taken some of Pangolyn‘s ashes up the Waiau Ridge along a trail that we had hiked on while living in Hawaii, and saw this rainbow on the way out. What really struck me was how quickly it had appeared, and where I was when it appeared. I stopped to take a break at a little flat-topped area still about 2.5 miles (and 1700 feet elevation) from civilization, and watched the rainbow appear almost instantly as a misty rain blew over the Aiea Ridge into the valley. The spot where I had stopped was also the same spot where I had originally proposed to Pangolyn, so I took the appearance of the rainbow to be a sort of personal new convenant.

    Way cool!

Too bad ya missed your theme. If I would have thought of it I would have posted em for you.

    Welcome back anyway.

I really like that second one. I like the fourth, too, but would kinda like to see a different crop…maybe more rectangle with the pencil points in the lower right?

Do you mean more like this?

I put a black shirt on my desk and used the light from my monitors to get the colors.

JK, You’re not the only one to yoyo today. I think that’s my lot for now. Anyway, I’ve narrowed it down to the choices below. I would appreciate input on those (if you all could be so kind), please. I’d like to know how guys got SO much more out of your CDs than me, but I guess that’ll have to wait; something else to figure out. In the meantime, I’m going to get cracking on a few jobs for work and try and let my head settle (operative word being try). Thank you, in advance.

According to Husband, what I’m doing isn’t “good enough” so I’m feeling rather disheartened and defeated because I don’t know how to do better and I’m not surgery why I’m trying. I’m sorry for wasting your time.

Don’t give up. Usually when I think my shots totally suck they do ok.

    Sometimes we overthink things.

    HAHA! I used CDs too.

Hmm,maybe this is gonna be a week of 100 pictures of CDs?

I tried some different types of glass and other stuff trying to get any sort of a rainbow effect but failed miserably.

Probably not quite that bad, but there’ll be a few of them, for sure. That and rainbows…

I’m hoping for a good showing of real rainbows. I have never been able to photograph one myself.

QB, that’s pretty much what I posted about too. My rainbows were rather small and all around it was less robust in color than I would have hoped. Honestly, yours has more kick than mine so I”d go for it. Not even a single prism around her to work with, sadly (hence the CDs).

Yeah, I went the CD route for one of mine too. Hopefully it’ll be sufficiently different from the others.

I went and got a prism for this weeks contest (yay Amazon) but utterly failed to make pretty rainbows on anything… and I couldn’t even make a decent diffraction pattern indoors =/ Did end up putting it to some good use though. The resulting shots are…different.

Well, from the original theme discussion, a picture/painting/non-refractive rainbow wouldn’t necessarily fit either. However, I’m still inclined to include non-refractive depictions of rainbows, since the way the actual theme description is worded could be argued to include it, and allowing it would open things up more for people.

    Any objections to that plan?

Sounds good to me, you’ll probably get alot of those shots anyway.

I think this is going to be contest with some spectacular shots.

In other news, I miss orionid 🙁

Me too. But I think he’s where he needs to be right now.

    From orionids original post:
Prisms, CD’s, opals, some road signs when they catch the sun just right, “homemade” rainbows with the lawn sprinkler, those rediculous shiny stickers in the $.25 machine at the supermarket, spectrographs…. Basically anything that separates white light into some or all of it’s parts.

Ranger Joe. Ditto. I have one corn-field rainbow left.

thepostess – I’m not the boss but the second one works for me. I know it doesn’t really show diffraction, but it squeezes between the rules. What say you oriodid?

I think they both work too.

Elsinore will have to make the call though. I think orionid is gonna be away for a bit.

I got nothin for this week either so I am hoping for a bit of latitude on the the description.

I would suggest there’s an argument to be made that “rainbows,” would include rainbow colored items as long as it’s all the colors and not just red or blue or whatever alone.

    I would agree.
