this one and Bucky Bacon’s dam shot are my favorite so far, I think.

actually, could you nuke the earlier ones? the ones that are left have broken HTML and don’t have links to larger images.

Participantdammit, can you nuke my first two? I screwed up the HTML.

ParticipantI think that collectively, tonight’s contest is going to be a pretty cool page to scroll through.

Participantoh, god, you people are way over-thinking this.
You write that as if it is surprising. 🙂 One of the things I like about this community is that my OCDish tendencies are, like, normal.
/the others don’t consider it normal to be up at 4 AM taking photos of glaciers. But we do! And we love you because of it.
//not enough to give you a man-hug though.point taken. I just never considered whether people in the shot would detract.

Participantoh, god, you people are way over-thinking this. I don’t think it’s who makes the most believable miniature scene, it’s who gets the coolest photo at the end of things. I think the votes are going to go on overall impact, not fine-level detail.

ParticipantI’ve never been able to use the dodge or burn tools in Photoshop without horrible results.
I am, however, a master of the clone stamp and healing brush, thanks to my habit of neglecting to clean my sensor.

ParticipantI will say that I’d be in favor of a week where any of the various Holga, Polaroid, Tilt-shift, Photoshop Filters, HDR, any kind of manipulation short of adding visual elements that weren’t there in the original scene would be allowed. A kind of software free for all.
I like that idea; submit it on the themes board?
Done.

ParticipantI think with the blur/sharpen it’s pretty much wide open. I can’t see trying to rule on which bits are allowed and which aren’t. We’re going all the way down the slippery slope.

ParticipantI’d say no, because I think the HDR would add to the not-real look and it’s kind of last-minute so not everyone necessarily has time to o out and do an HDR image. Also that would open it up to other things like lucisart treatments http://www.lucisart.com/lucis-art3-artist-gallery/lucis-art-3-gallery.htm that would also make the scenes look more staged.

ParticipantOh that is absolutely terrible. My deepest condolences. Hang in there, friend.

fark has been a little wonky tonight. instead of source tags on the articles, it’s mostly empty parentheses. I was wondering why the voting was so low, too. could just be a slow night, though.

Participantthis is another one I considered for this week

but ultimately I decided it didn’t fit.

Participantyou can do them online here: http://tiltshiftmaker.com/
also, lens blur should be located under filters in PS7
saw the online thing, thanks.
filter/blur>blur, blur more, gaussian, motion, radial, smart.
nope, no lens blur. lens flare yes. PS7 seems to lack a lot but given my limited needs and the cost to me i’m not complaining.
well, you can select an area of the scene, feather it out, and then just apply gaussian to that area. or look for diffuse glow, if that’s available.
