Participantit’s not without its frustrations. focus is total wild-ass guessing, unless your eyesight through these tiny viewfinders is better than mine. and as you focus, you’re unscrewing the thing, so sometimes you unscrew it right into two pieces. it’s not nearly as wide as I’d like, or rather I’d like a second one that was wider. Also the holga lenses themselves are a crapshoot, you never know how good or bad or exactly in what way distorted yours is going to turn out being. I’ve got a regular film Holga, and it sometimes takes a fairly decent shot like this:

and then sometimes takes a shot like this

and other times, it’s more like this:

but I enjoy the unpredictable aspect of it.

Participantsoosh – love the Holga stuff. Did you get one of these? http://www.holgamods.com/xt/xt.html
yep, that’s what I used. It does best on really really bright contrasty days. Anything reflecting light will positively glow. And then I generally up the contrast and saturation a little to go with the blur. Here’s a few more taken with that:

ParticipantIt really is an incredible lens. My main problem with it is that our forests are rather close and crowded and often the working distance that is fantastic for insects and other skittish creatures is absolutely too long for forest details. I’ll end up backing into the inevitable tree every time, trying to frame a shot of a mushroom or moss.

ParticipantI’m asking $500. Here’s my ad on photo.net: http://photo.net/gc/view-one?classified_ad_id=942071

I’m selling a Tamron 180mm f/3.5 macro if you’re interested.

ParticipantI’ll be wandering around British Columbia next month for a little more than a week, but other than that won’t likely be coming down to the lower 48 for who knows how long. Last time I left Alaska was 2006.

ParticipantI think this is my favorite bird photo I’ve ever taken, but I’ve used it in farktography before.

Participantwe’ve got a blue grouse here commonly called a hooter. you run into the same sort of problem searching for photos.

ParticipantI’m typically way off on which of mine I think will do the best. Which has me constantly rethinking my entries.

Participanthey, Elsinore, is the fact my eagle + salmon photos didn’t get deleted from this thread: http://www.fark.com/cgi/comments.pl?IDLink=4400004 good enough that they won’t get deleted from the contest for gore? There was one I tried to enter a few years ago that was deleted from a contest.
