So… um… is that the kind of stuff you were looking for?

    It’s spelled “キヤノン.”
    Get with it already!

He knows all about that pestering part.

    Who says I pester!?
Was it idle_hands, tea, Elsinore, 1TBat10000rpm, Klahanie… um… point taken, never mind.

don’t discount actually hooking up with creative types in the off-line world.

He’s right. In the end, all art is multidisciplinary and interstitial. Any creative types will do. A lot of things will only come up when you’re there in person.
I read a book with chapters once!

    I like those shots.

Enter farktography contests and constantly pester people for advice.
It forces you to try new things and be creative, and concepts and advice are easier to understand and apply when you’re trying to get something done. A lot of times someone whose style you generally dislike will pop in with something you never would have thought to do. Plus the steady stream of wildly different shots will help you figure out what you like.

I move that we publish an illustrated manual on how to take ridiculous photos without scaring the normals.

    /That’s actually not a half-bad idea…

Where are we going to get someone that knows how to do that?

Now to take the picture I want without my neighbors or the cops thinking I am nuts.

I move that this become the official farktography rallying cry.

    Two years?
Man, now I feel old. There are babies out there learning to walk and talk that never lived in a world without a farkamera.
I agree with Curious, we should get it in while there’s still places that develop film left.

    Also, (2^8)th post!

EU SOU REI N?O VESTINDO CAL?AS IV!

*throws empty bottle at wall, passes out*

(and that‘s how you take a compliment)

(I’d like to thank idle_hands and tea for the early advice and encouragement, and generally putting up with my many (hopefully) comically self-absorbed demands for help, even when I ignored it. Then thank them again for the middle and little past middle advice and encouragement. monkeybort, Khal… the farktographer whose name ever so recently used to be easy to spell, schnee, and everyone else who works their asses off with little to no thanks to make this what it is, and who are now especially pissed off because even after I said that, I didn’t name and thank them properly.
And, of course, my Momma and Elvis.

I’m going to chime in on the 5d again. I’d give my right arm and the lens it’s holding to undo that damned 1.6x sensor crop in close spaces.
You’ll spend the extra $1k making up for the difference with lenses eventually anyway.

Also, I don’t know about anybody else, but I can shoot for days, like, more than 24 hours of actual shooting on just one piddly little battery, so unless it’s for ergonomics, a battery grip seems like overkill unless you’re hiking alone in the wilderness, far from civilization and civilization’s convenient supply of electricity, and take one majestic shot per day for weeks to fill those cards as slowly as possible. That might be because I don’t have any large autofocus lenses though. Anyone know?

Also, Canon has some crazy rebates going on, if those hadn’t been factored in already.

Thanks schnee. I’ll save big on gas if I only have to mug one of you.

You know how they say with an 8mm lens you get tons of lens flare?
They’re absolutely right and you should listen to them.

Pssst, millera9. I’ll give you $5 if you edit your post to end with something that implies this sort of thing will happen to anyone who posts something off topic, or with not enough staplers.
