Drew replied – he and some of the other mods are travelling at the moment but thinks he can greenlight us tomorrow night and Wednesday at the latest.

When I have some extra free moments (I’m running out the door late right now for a project) I can post something in the photoshop forum that we will be going live. Or does someone have some free time to do that now-ish?

I feel your pain. My KM 5d is my first dSLR (SLR in general really) and my Nikon 5400 made it so easy to focus that I got spoiled. Now I think something looks great through the viewfinder but when I get home I see the focus is on the wrong thing or it isn’t tack sharp.
There are so many little adjustments that make such a difference. 😕

I’m just commiserating really. I have to assume the longer we play with our cameras the better we’ll get. Right?

Regarding this contest, mistakes were made and lessons were learned, but we all got to see some nifty photos. Next time, the cross-over theme will much more specific.

I definitely think we should try again! Even through all the grumbling and drinking at my keyboard I’m still having fun *winks at monkeybort*

If this were our own website with the mod group we have now, we’d be fine. But since we can’t mod in the thread itself…well we have to rely on the posters to read and adhere to the rules. I don’t even know if our requests to have certain posts deleted would happen because the fark mods have no idea who “we” are.

So what can you do with the repeats and the off-topic posts? Make a contest so simple (say, a color?) where the odds of getting it wrong are slimmed down?

I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings either, nor do i want to isolate anyone. So how do you maintain some semblence of balance when you really have little power to do so?

So after talking to schnee, who envisioned this theme in the first place, we’re going to post the top 3 O’s on a page where the photoshoppers have ready access to them. However, there will also be a blurb inviting them to peruse our contest from last night and contact the photographer if they would like to use another image outside of the top 3.

I posted in the photoshop forum that they have the powah and to please come and vote. Alternatively we could just open it wide and let them take whatever image they want to photoshop. 😉

The photoshop thread should be submitted either this weekend or Monday at the latest so the ‘shoppers have enough time to play with the images. Please have a high-res version of your photograph handy for “O” purposes. The photoshop thread *should* go front page on Friday, May 12 (our official 1 year anniversary date).

Without sounding like a complete wacko, I never realized what a great place a cemetery is for random photographs. I ran out of time and sunlight before I captured everything I wanted, but think I’ll make another trip one of these days.
