Participantand considering all those times idle_hands kept voting off, well i think she would have left the rest of us far behind in her dust by now.
my jaw is agape, schnee. awesome stuff!

ParticipantI can imagine in late summer/fall this would be a gorgeous place to go shooting. I like the photos you presented here, but additional green foliage never hurts 😉

ParticipantKind of a light turnout for this one. I was looking forward to seeing more farkers’ guilty pleasures. 🙁

ParticipantDid you know that the Farktographer with the most number of votes is CaptainJim with 1576? Followed by veruca with 1542?
I think I just swallowed my gum. Your raw data fascinates me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Did you know that 1905 individual Farktographers have submitted 7910 farktographs that eventually got at least one vote?
Or that the top three vote-getting entries are:
VOTES |FARKTOGRAPHER |THEME
120 |neonstz |Seen Better Days
119 |chakalakasp |Look To The Skies
96 |yeimi |Self Portraits
Or that the themes with the most total votes cast are
TOTALVOTES |THEME
4984 |Look To The Skies
3164 |Night Time Photography
3016 |Black and White Photography
What other stats would you all like to see? I’m slowing assembling a Farktography Statistics Monitor along the lines of the Fark Photoshop Monitor and am soliciting requirements. My vision is for a bunch of static pages that will show data such as the above, along with some charts (’cause, you know, its me), with links to contests, images, &c. Maybe even some searches (e.g. “lets see ‘schnee’s stats), but dynamicism may kill my poor cable modem so we will see.
I’m going “dark” for a few days but I’ll check back in and scoop up the thoughts (if any).
If you plan to move forward with collecting and then posting the data/results I’d be more than happy to confer about getting a link put on the farktography page to your website. I’m sure others would be interested in seeing the breakdowns as well.

ParticipantBut what’s even weirder is the thread got posted again tonight. Cue spooky music…

ParticipantIt’s so weird monkeybort because I swear it was right when I posted my photos. So very odd. Don’t be beatin’ yourself up over it; must have been a glitch in the matrix. *hugs*

ParticipantSo, has everyone been out this week trying to throw springs with one hand and photograph them with the other?
I was wondering about that. Looks like only 1 literal spring so far 😀
(edited to add I so don’t have the coordination for that kind of thing or I would have tried it…)veruca
ParticipantNext week’s contest is a spring theme. Your photo would work well what the the tree budding and such 😀

ParticipantThink I’m off for a short nap. Here’s hoping we get an earlier greenlight tonight. I asked again for a set time – cross your fingers and we’ll see.

Participantfine, fine, just fine, thanks!
if i hadn’t refreshed before posting, we absolutely would have had competing threads.
😳
I’d convinced myself you were going to be late or something or other this week. My apologies. The little voice in the head was right again – I knew I should have asked!

ParticipantAm hoping I got this one right. Looking through my photo collection I appear to be the anti-minimalist.
How’s everyone else doing this fine Wednesday evening?veruca
ParticipantI like the photos in your gallery; your subjects seem very comfortable with you and I think that makes a huge difference. I especially like the ones of the girls group singing, nice captures there.
I wish I had some hints and tips to share but, like you, have kind of stayed away from the genre. I do find borrowing a kid helps. My niece and nephew will pose for me sparingly and one of my best friends just had a baby so I get to practice there.
Just keep getting out there and trying. IMO what you’ve presented in your gallery is a great start.

Participantholga! holga!!! (said in best john belushi ‘toga’ voice)
i got a polaroid back for mine and have done some holgaroids with it that have come out really cool (IMHO). i’ve posted my favorites at the end of my ‘different perspective’ batch on pbase
http://www.pbase.com/monkeybort/different_perspective
other than that i haven’t played with it too much – the SO has it up in bozeman for the time being to shoot his architecture site with.
oh, we also did some b/w holgaroid portraits when we got engaged, but he hasn’t given me the scans of those yet.
those are awesome monkeybort! i love how they came out.
where did you get the polaroid back from? i’ve looked around but only found the complete kit and i was kind of looking to do it myself.
i get the holga! holga! holga! (conga) song in my head – damn fanta commercials:P

ParticipantI’m sorry these go to the front page so late. We don’t have any control over it, and we’ve made inquiries before about streamlining the time, but nothing has come of it so far. 😥 Sounds like it’s time to make another inquiry.
