For some reason this puts the Pink Floyd Money song in my head.

Haha, I was trying to get the song in my head, but instead I got “For the Love of Money” by the Ojays. Funny how the brain works. 😉

So how is veruca tonight? Any idea yet when this thing is going to go green? Green, green? Woohoo, it’s going to be a pretty thread I just know it!

I’m fine but so sleepy. How about you? How’s the film developing going?
You know what I just realized? This was my first greenlight ever. On the green thread. Weird?

Received a reply from my farkback and per Drew:
should be fine, just remind me in advance and we’ll get it done

So that takes us to step 2, and after the contest runs on May 3 I’ll submit the winners for the May 12 photoshop thread.

    Let the advertising begin 😀

    B. advert the heck out of the contest by telling the FPAEF about it

How about shameless promotion in tonight’s thread too?

Am now putting together a farkback covering this so no one’s surprised when we start promoting. Would one of you like to submit a blurb after I post the frist psot tonight? (actually what schnee posted over in the themes forum would work really well…)

Ooooh opinionated, creative people come out come out wherever you are.

    I got 50% of that covered, so here’s my half-@$$ed plan-for-execution (again):

    A. pick a photoshop friendly theme and add additional “rules” based on what the ‘shoppers suggested (e.g. focus, et.al.)
    B. advert the heck out of the contest by telling the FPAEF about it
    C. run the contest
    D. submit the top-three winners as a Photoshop-contest proposal using the normal link-submission thingie
    E. convince the powers that be to greenlight that submission.

I think that we’re stuck on A. So, I suggest “Focus People Focus”. I’ll make a formal suggestion over in the appropriate forum

I would go as far as to say this would be the perfect theme since it’s exactly what the photoshoppers asked for. I’m comfortable in saying let’s go for it.

I think if you expect the worst in this situation then you probably couldn’t be disappointed. Are they coming with any type of warranty and/or from a respectable dealer?

Here’s what I think we need to do:

      A. pick a photoshop friendly theme and add additional “rules” based on what the ‘shoppers suggested (e.g. focus, et.al.)
      B. advert the heck out of the contest by telling the FPAEF about it
      C. run the contest
      D. submit the top-three winners as a Photoshop-contest proposal using the normal link-submission thingie
      E. convince the powers that be to greenlight that submission.

Other than that last bit (“convince the mods”), this is just a “normal” course of business for both farktography and photoshopper. I think we’d have a better chance of convincing them if we recruited some FPAEFer to help (and maybe Drew’s Mom!)

Pending picking a theme, we could hold our end of the contest on the 3rd of May. That would give the photoshoppers about a week and a half to manipulate the images and prepare for the anniversary thread. Does that seem like enough time?

As requested there’s a new forum on the front page named photoshoptography. I can change the name if you guys hate it 😛 Moving this discussion over.

I forget sometimes that spring here and spring in other places can be so different. Here I am slightly whining about the rain while the midwest gets a snow dump. 😕 It’s just been a long, rainy winter and that’s saying something for this part of the US.

I know it hasn’t been called yet, but…

Earlier, I was going to try a pun based on the relatively late greenlight and somehow tie together the irony of there being no chance for the ‘Liters on the Light contest.

Proved wrong. Awesome job Puhonix. Not only did he hit it, he knocked it out of the park. That’s him, the blue dot in the upper right quadrant. Awesome.

    Great shot too.

That’s funny. When I saw Puhonix’s entry I thought it would have had great potential to place if the thread hadn’t gone front page so late. 😛

But congrats to you too, scnhee. I’ve tried to capture that image of light filtering through trees many times and I hav never quite gotten it as right as you did. Awesome photo!

How is there a five-hour difference between last week’s arrival on Cheapskate Fark and this week’s?

Just curious, it works to my advantage this time around as I have to work tonight and will be getting home right around the time it should show up on Fark Cheap.

We’ve requested a couple of times that we have a more stable timeslot, but it unfortunately hasn’t become a reality as of yet. Reminds me to submit another farkback…

If that’s not an option, you can use Quick Gamma http://quickgamma.de/indexen.html

Awesome! I’ll have to check this out.

I know nobody can come on here and say “to get lots of votes, you need to do this, this, and this”.

idle_hands knows, but she keeps the secret locked in her underground vault never to be seen by another pair of human eyes. 8)

OK I’ll readily admit I know nothing about photography. I also know nothing about half the themes posted here. But I play along to be cannon fodder for the pros who people like me make look good.

So I submit a pic that my own reaction to was “meh” basically so I could say I articipated. Set it up in about 10 seconds (not including all the time invested washing/waxing the vehicles involved) and shot it with the camera in hands and on no-brainer mode.

The thing gets 18 votes, more than half of the winning entries and literally multiple times the number of votes my previous entrants have ever earned. There’s like 50 pictures I like better that have fewer votes than mine.

    Go figger.

Ah, the fickle finger of the greater voting community. I’ve posted photos which I love dearly, and then others which I’m also ‘meh’ about which seem to attract more attention. Sometimes the opposite as well…you just never know.

I can’t tell if you’re just wondering out loud or otherwise, but personally in all the contests I’ve entered I still walk away with a smile because someone liked my photo. That and I really enjoy seeing what everyone else has to offer, too.

that’s funny because i have WAY more stuff on my pbase page for today than i usually do. i had a really hard time narrowing it down.

that’s because you have an excellent eye and a knack for finding hidden beauty.
