Wow, looking back through this thread I see that I had the camera in Dec. 2006. We need to do this again but faster.
Sorry I haven’t been around but I went over to another site. Farktography has really grown, I’m proud of you all.June 14, 2007 at 3:15 am #11549CaptainJimParticipantI just wanted to say fark you and the horse you rode in on for not putting Sigma on the list. Then I thought better of it. So I will just ask about Mamiya, Leica, Olympus, Cabo, ect. 🙂
April 29, 2007 at 3:24 am #9345CaptainJimParticipantHonestly I think the scroll wheel is a little soft and as you pointed out the bottom of the mouse could have a tad more light on it. I didn’t realize that the logo was on the mouse pad, I thought you had added it(oops).
How many lights are you using? Sometimes for a simple shot I might use 5 or more lights and reflectors all wraped with cinafoil and little holes cut out to get the highlights just right. Other times I will drill a hole in the table and put a light under it to add sparkle to a glass or liquid sitting on the hole. It’s the little things that count and I’m very anal retentive about things like that.
I think the best way to get better at photography is to put your best pictures up on a wall and look at them for about a week and write down on them everything you can find wrong and then try to take the same shot and make it better. You are at the point now that most people are just going to tell you that you’re great because they don’t know any better. Don’t believe that, you can always do better and have to reinvent yourself constantly.
And if you ever want to go pro I highly recomend an agent.
/Take care
April 28, 2007 at 10:51 pm #9342CaptainJimParticipantI’m sorry, I was in a bad mood last night so I scribbled suff on your picture that I’ve seen art directors do. Some of it makes scence and some of it is cryptic at best. I acually do like your picture though.
April 28, 2007 at 5:21 am #9338CaptainJimParticipantHere is what I would do
March 13, 2007 at 4:44 am #8992CaptainJimParticipantI’m planning on donating. I never knew him but if there was ever a reason this is it.
December 29, 2006 at 4:35 am #3734CaptainJimParticipantDamit, I didn’t even think to look under the foam to find cool things. I could of hidden a WITFP(wennie in the farkamera package) in there.
😀 😀 😯 😀 😀December 16, 2006 at 5:03 am #3718CaptainJimParticipantBarbies? 😉
I don’t think the camera is any good till about 4′ so, I’ll do something outside nature wise. I think I’ll take it down to the creek. It would have been nice if it came with a log paper of what people have taken pictures of so that I don’t repeat anything.
December 16, 2006 at 3:09 am #3715CaptainJimParticipantI just got it today. I have no idea what to take a picture of. Everything around here is dead and brown now:(
November 27, 2006 at 9:35 am #6870CaptainJimParticipantJust wondering if this is your pic and if you knew about it?

November 16, 2006 at 5:40 am #6861CaptainJimParticipantThe photo you posted at 8:03:16 would make a nice cover for that calendar. Outstanding shot — it has a really neat Van Gogh feel to it.
That is the only pic I took for this contest all the others are old. I found a fall bouquet at the grocery store for 2.99 and knew it would make a good subject.
November 16, 2006 at 4:44 am #6859CaptainJimParticipantThere are so many great photos all ready. I’m sure the top 12 would make a nice calender.
November 16, 2006 at 4:25 am #6857CaptainJimParticipantIs Fark not updating for anyone else?
November 15, 2006 at 7:16 am #6846CaptainJimParticipantThe first pic has backlighting and the second has a pink filter applied evenly. What is better?
And if you wonder why it looks like a painting it’s because of an extreme crop and gaussian blur followed by unsharp mask.
