    $5, plus $3 shipping.

Try a google for “infamous woot letter”. Some people have gotten entire pallets of coffeemakers, or DVD/VCR combos, or children’s toys… One guy got a 32″ LCD TV and another got a 65″ LCD TV.

One poor bastard got two entire pallets of car wax.

Rapid fire, hold ’till buffer full. Repeat. And best-guestimations as to where and when the next strike would be. Before I realized that rapid fire was faster in jpeg only than RAW, I missed a LOT of fast strikes where I had the when/where figured properly, but it hit in between shutter fires.

Yep. I used to do that, until I realized that I was blowing through 500-1000 shutter clicks for any particular “keeper” in the series, so I built the trigger.

    Like this one:

The Arduino trigger has certainly made that sort of shot a LOT easier for me… but I do lose quite a bit of the arborization in the main strike unless I get really lucky.

I hope the wife is pleasantly surprised when she finds out you’re pregnant….

Oh, that’s her stick – you don’t think *I* peed on a pink plastic thing, do you?

Congrats on both counts! Is this your first?

    Yep. First.

    I’m still a little dazed.

Wow, caradoc, that would be awesome to have! *yet another thing to save up for.*

…or just build. The Camera Axe is an open-source project – and my lightning trigger is based on a very early design in that project.

…possibly even stepping into the 21st century and finally picking up an arduino unit.

The Arduino is simply one of the coolest gadgets I’ve had a chance to play with in the last two years.

Check out the Camera Axe projects. All Arduino-based.

I’m looking forward to the production shoot – so I get to include the set, and not just the promotional shots of the actors/actresses.

You do excellent portraits. Just saying. “The Vibrator Play”? Bwah-ha-ha!!!

Thank you! Yes. The “The Vibrator Play.”

Are the non-Nikkor brands (Sigma and Tamron) comparable in quality?

I was looking at the Nikon 85mm and the Nikon 105mm, but had to compromise… so I ended up with the Tamron 90mm f/2.8.

    Love it.

The most recent model of the Tamron 90mm has a built-in AF motor, too, so it’ll work on any Nikon DSLR.

I’m hoping for good storms this afternoon into tonight, and possibly more tomorrow.

The monsoon may be over, but it’s been a weird year.

You had me at “Big, Gay Dance Party”.

    *swoon*

I guess you missed “The Play About the Naked Guy.”

    Thanks, chupathingie!

I’ve got shoots lined up for a number of… “interesting” shows from a couple of venues:

Enrique Urueta’s “Learn To Be Latina,” Aaron Loeb’s “Abraham Lincoln’s Big, Gay Dance Party,” and Josh Kornbluth’s “Andy Warhol: Good For the Jews?” should all prove to be quite eye-opening, I think.
