ParticipantNo unfortunately I have not been doing that. I do need to start shooting in raw but I think my main reason for not doing that is if I don’t process them right away the windows viewer can’t show them to me and I forget what I have and which shots are good and which are not. if I remember right the previous install of dpp didn’t work correctly and only loaded when it felt like it. So I was lazy and just shot jpegs. I have since reinstalled windows and all the canon stuff is fresh and new and works correctly. I just need to break my old habit and try to make shooting raw how I do things I guess.

ParticipantI was paying so much attention to how sharp it looked that I didn’t even notice the slight greenness until I had it posted. all I can guess is the stupid florescent bulb caused it. It’s supposed to be one of those “natural light” bulbs if I remember right. Maybe I got the white balance on the wrong setting?

ParticipantMan I am kinda worried about my second entry. The fire crackers sure pop out but now the background cloth I used is looking less than true b/w. It almost looks like it has a greenish tint to it? I know it is actually black and medium dark gray. its the same piece of cloth I used in last weeks theme behind the skull candles. Is it close enough? I can pull it and pick something else if I have to.

ParticipantYeah I am feeling mighty outclassed yet again. But I shall persevere. Maybe some day I will actually win one of these things.

ParticipantDoes this pop enough?
Uhhh yeah 😆
What she said! Very cool.

ParticipantI think the third has the most convincing b/w with color pop effect. The gold piano manufacturer name is visible in the other two, though less in the second.
That was my opinion too. Great idea either way you go.

ParticipantI also enjoyed shooting 2 of my three. The third was an archive dive that turned out to be a decent choice considering I didn’t plan on using the three steps in a contest but it got the most votes of my three this week. I think I might have done better on the other two if I had better lighting. Or something that resembled a studio instead of just using a chair for the movies under a cfl in an old and not white anymore ceiling mounted light fixture. No complaints here for sure. Oh and congrats olavf. The holy hand grenades were very cool. Yours and orionids both.

Participantvery cool! she seems to have been very good at getting very good shots of people in their everyday happenings. I hope to get even half that good some day.

ParticipantThose were some pretty smoky years weren’t they. It would appear that you share my brothers b-day orionid. I also find it interesting you did the same thing I did. go searching for what happened on my b-day. 9/19

ParticipantDid my brick picture show up? Or is it only on my computer?
I can see it. and I think it even would work in the contest. I have a feeling mine will all be snow based because I have nothing that looks good any where else.

ParticipantI sort of am trying this. I did not join any flickr group but yeah I have done my best to take and post at least one a day. is joining a group necessary?

Participantshe doesn’t really seem like a hooters girl but I have never been to one so I could be wrong. 😀

ParticipantYeah, Hagrid officially weighs in at 12.6 pounds and 32.5 inches down one side, across the bottom, and back up the other side. Also, as someone on FB pointed out, I look like Leif Garrett in that picture 😛
LOL you don’t have nearly enough feather in you hair. Had to google him because I could not remember what he looked like.

ParticipantSo far the only way I have anything that fits this theme is based around snow. Every other idea or opportunity seemed too colorful when I got them on the computer.

ParticipantI’m trying to gauge the limitations on the background colour.

Would something like this be acceptable?
I am not a mod but that does not seem very monochromatic to me.
