I already found the limitations of a mini tripod so I went to a second hand store here and found a really solid J.C.Penny full sized tripod for 12 dollars and some change.it sure is a huge improvement over the mini.

same shot as above with the new tripod.I could use any advice you all have.

That and I took almost a hundred pictures today on the Seven mile hike a friend talked me into going on.So I have plenty to chose from that might be clearer and not as blurry .didn’t see any more elk though.

I just tonight figured out how to do really long exposures up to 15 seconds and i have a cheap mini tripod .I have a feeling I’m gonna end up taking a couple hundred pics to get the right shots for this one.Gonna have to try the sunglasses trick since I have a point and shoot camera. At least it is a Canon a560:)

the pictures just dont look as good without sunlight.stupid clouds.

Do you have woods where you live? It’s generally much easier to photograph in the woods on cloudy days than sunny. Also, the even light can be very useful for macro/closeup work outside….

thank you for the advice.I will try to keep that in mind because I live very near the redwood forest.very north California for the win 😀

I am hoping to do better in this one. I went out and bought some colored lightbulbs to stick in a couple of old lamps we have and try to setup some interesting shots while I was feeling creative.
I need to get beyond just point and shoot, even if I play with camera settings 🙂

Go to it JP! Shoot 50! Shoot a bunch. Shoot from stupid angles. Shoot from up close and far away. Shoot so that pesky glare is out of the way. Shoot so that pesky glare becomes part of the photo. One of the things that I love about digital is the freedom to take a bunch of pics. One or two always turn out better than the rest – and it’s not always the ones that I expected.

thats the thing i have been trying to do.gotta love digital. shot 70 something pics for this one .I only like one pic so far.gonna keep trying for the perfect shot

very cool i was just wondering if the spider changed the composition or something.i think its a blackwidow.
thanks for a quick answer 😀

    This is a Black Widow.

Doesn’t look like a Brown Widow either.

the first one is for sure. i read that they start out brown or orange and get darker until they turn black at maturity.i never got a look at her underside.kinda arachnophobic but fascinated none the less.
