ParticipantOr we get as many people as possible to post copyright on their images 😉
i love it!

ParticipantAnd Monkeybort, you keep putting your notice on your pics; it isn’t obtrusive. I debate about doing that myself every time I post something online….
thanks WenchyWoman – it just makes me feel better about having them out there. i may futz around with doing something a little less obvious, but we’ll see.
or i may make it bigger and put my website on there too!!! 😈
but that is just ‘cos i have a streak of twisted stubborn perversity in me.

Participantyou guys all kick some serious ass.

Participantyay!!! i didn’t start posting until contest #15, but if it wasn’t for farktography i probably never would have become a TotalFarker (if it wasn’t for my horse, i wouldn’t have spent that year in college) and would not have gotten to meet all of you wonderful people!
i’ll be posting mine late-ish tonight – baby shower to attend right after work. see y’all there!
*hugs*

Participantdo you have any info on good flatbeds?
I don’t know diddly about flatbeds.
thanks for the info on film scanners – i’m very interested in the nikon.
🙂
monkeybort
Participantthank you for the advice schnee – i will definitely keep it in mind.
do you have any info on good flatbeds? i will need to scan prints for this project.
monkeybort
Participanti would imagine so. i got so frustrated with manual focusing that i gave up entirely unless i can’t get the auto-focus to look where i want.
monkeybort
Participantso, i haven’t gotten the scanner yet, but now i definitely need a good flatbed. i’m starting to do some restoration work for a friend of his dad’s photos from the 20’s-60’s and they are all in print form with no negatives available. any suggestions?

Participanthahahahahahaaaaaa schnee – just noticed the acronym for the Farktog Stats Manager.

ParticipantIf this were our own website with the mod group we have now, we’d be fine. But since we can’t mod in the thread itself…well we have to rely on the posters to read and adhere to the rules. I don’t even know if our requests to have certain posts deleted would happen because the fark mods have no idea who “we” are.
So what can you do with the repeats and the off-topic posts? Make a contest so simple (say, a color?) where the odds of getting it wrong are slimmed down?
I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings either, nor do i want to isolate anyone. So how do you maintain some semblence of balance when you really have little power to do so?
’tis a delicate balance – following/enforcing the guidelines without hurting anyone’s feelings. i hate the idea of having to simplify something that really shouldn’t be that difficult to follow in the first place….
the one time i submitted a farkback to get something removed i never heard back nor did the post go away.
i know the answer……a leather glove!!! aaaaaah hahahahahahaaa!!!

Participanti was thinking about this earlier today as well – we could put something in the first post about keeping the theme in mind as you vote. i mean, just because a photo is beautiful doesn’t necessarily qualify it for the contest.
is there a good objective way to decide what fits and what doesn’t? therein lies the rub, i think. if we start asking the mods to pull stuff or calling people out in the thread i feel there will be anger, which is not at all what we’re going for.
i totally agree though – it is really frustrating to have an image that fits the theme and is a good image and then have something completely unrelated to the theme and/or not a quality image getting a ton of votes.

ParticipantMaybe the thread title should be changed to “Photoshoppers, vote for pictures you want to PS!”
🙂not a bad idea, actually. opinions?
of course, i have no idea how to go about getting a headline changed since i don’t know any mods or admins.

ParticipantI think some people have confused shallow depth of field with significant depth of field. Some beautiful pictures though. You farktographers do some pretty amazing work!
heh, i was noticing the same thing.
and yup, should have access to high-res versions of the winners, as galleywench said.
