I was just wondering that. Someone accidentally the whole thing – don’t even get the redirect :/

That’s a good question. It would certainly open up my options some.

    1) Cobalt filters (just like science class)
    2) welding glass (poor-mans solar filter)
    3) solar filter (nuff said)
    4) mylar potato chip bag, doubled over (poor-er mans solar filter)

Derp. I must be suffering from vapor lock today.

Yeah, it probably would have taken a couple of tries, and I’d be a little concerned about sensor damage :/

Good to know. But ordering from the same printer, especially in the same order would be the same thing for the former, right? I’m curious now…

Thanks Soosh – I’ll certainly check them out too when I’m ready to get to that point. Other than that, is there a good reason to go to the pro side of any of these houses?

I’ve been using the 5×7 test print method up until now

Woohoo! One down, two to go, and Kat didn’t get singed too badly last night in the process 😀

Yeah, I was thinking of the straight mpix.com side, at least for now – though I haven’t been able to see what the advantage is of the pro side, except maybe for tax-exempt ordering (which doesn’t matter unless they have a location in CA). I’ll probably give them a go then, since I’m an impatient SOB and don’t like waiting for my stuff 😉

I’ve ordered other stuff from Adorama – my backdrops, lights, and a few other things come from there, so I can’t say enough about that side of the house, but I’ll keep them in mind for that too 🙂

I’ve shied away from this, because I don’t think anyone wants a bunch of ‘kids playing in sprinklers’ shots. But, I’ve thought about artificial rain, even if I think it may be cutting things too close to the wire :/

I looked back and the picture I was thinking of was color-corrected for the shade. As shot in camera, I think fits what you were going for.

Thanks for the clarification though, either way, I think it needed to be said 😉

My interpretation is that the shot should be almost completely desaturated by the nature of the subject & background. So, anything with ‘vibrant’ colors somewhere in it should be out.

That said, is something that feels ‘sepia’ okay? Or is that stretching it too much? I’ll see if I can come up with an example if need be.
