    Thanks for that 🙂

    Stupid hosting blowing up >_<

And congrat Corsec67. Now I want a cat to photograph!

I don’t know how the heck he does that. I tried taking pictures of one of our cats. The results were less than stellar but made a good story (see the pub & grill) :/

According to the weather, we had something like 70% cloudcover last night, but it seemed more like 110%. Couldn’t even see the moon. The night before was pretty cool though.

maybe tonight will be better if the rains don’t start :/

And soosh that is one awesome picture.

I see the problem. You expected the cat to do something instead of taking your rightful place as plaything and food giver for the supreme kitty

I suspect you’re right, except that the problem is that I *am* the plaything, and that demands attention above all else :/

Unless I pull off some miracle of insight, I’m going to be sitting this one out. I cannot, for the life of me, make an image that isn’t all diffraction all the time. Certainly nothing I’m happy with.

I feel like I’m almost, but not quite there.

Buried down in the reader comments on some site that suggested dimpling the aluminum and then sanding it back to the desired diameter. It seems to have helped, but now I’m wondering if the 320 grit sandpaper wasn’t fine enough and that if I were to go even finer that might help.

    Beer-can lens take one:

I feel you there…. Though I’m watching my crappy pictures crap out. Can we do panoramics and farm threads again? I did well in those 😉

FSM lists me as one vote away from my first top ten evar. Not sure if I should be happy or bummed about that :/

I think I’ve got some pretty good stuff for next week tho. we’ll see if I slip back into my normal mediocrity 😉

Too early to say that this is an insta-classic?

    These entries are very cool.

It’s definitely got potential for the sheer fun of it. I had a good time looking through my archives for pics (kat and I laughed for a good minute at my squirrelbutt :P)

The background stories are a huge part of the appeal for many of the images this week. I just snorted out loud reading the 2008-11-19 09:08:07 PM entry from lady_nocturne. There’s lots of others where the explanation adds to the image too, that’s just the latest example. I’m really enjoying reviewing the queue as it builds.

I’ll pass your comments along if you like – I’m sure she’d appreciate it 😉
/she just kat and I have been running around Sacramento like crazy people with cameras lately.

Thanks. That was part of what I was thinking about in the long run. The only challenge there is going to be fitting them in a cap in such a way that they’re replaceable (preferably in the field). I think some experimentation might be in order…

Does anyone have any experience with Lenox Laser (http://www.lenoxlaser.com/pinholephotos/index.html)? They’ve got some pretty nifty looking stuff, including a pinhole fitting for my EOS for $33. Highly tempting…

Voting on my pics is opposite what I expected! Farktography is always a suprise!

Ditto. My cute kid shot is flopping, The barbed wire bokeh has about 11 more votes than I expected.

I really liked your wheat pic, btw.

My cute kid is doing good as I expected. My Alpacas are beating my harrow though and I like the harrow shot better.

Your barbed wire shot is cool.

Seconded, and it is surprising sometimes. My oranges are doing far, far better than my apples (if you want to compare apples and oranges) even though I thought the apples were a much better picture.

    Occasionally they let us 😉

You’ve earned it anyway. Don’t think I’ve ever properly thanked you and the others for all the hard work y’all put into this. Especially as this stuff gives just kat and me an excuse to go out and do something we both enjoy together 🙂
