space.com has a forum, for one. The camera you used has a mftr website, I’d suppose, and you might be able to submit them there. Any of the astronomy magazines. Your local paper.

The 2014 comes in play when ‘visible across the United States’ is employed. In 2010 if you live far enough west you’ll have an opportunity, though not one as good. But weather permitting, I’ll see it go total as it sets in the west, and California will see a bit more of the same, only higher up. If I can find the right horizon, it would make a splendid picture.

But, if the world comes to an end in 2012 and you miss the 2014 eclipse, don’t come cryin’ to me… 🙂

There’s another one Dec 10th next year, at least in the western states. 😀

Did you change the ISO or exposure at all? You should submit those somewhere. It’s an excellent collage.

Sorry I don’t have anything to offer. The clouds were just too much. I couldn’t find the moon at all during totality. CISS, you got some lovely shots 🙂

CISSYes, btw, I do still work nights–but not tonight. There are some breakish things in the clouds, enough to see the lunar disc and some detail. But it’s hazy–how much I’ll get during totality I don’t know, and I don’t have a clear-sky shot of the full moon for comparisons of brightness. I’ll hope it gets better as the night progresses. Here’s the best moon I have so far (300mm, 200ISO, 1/200th second, cropped but elsewise untouched in any way.)

I could adjust for the overexposure, of course, but I’d like to try and have a reference point, and see what I get as things get closer to and into totality. I’ll probably have to lengthen the exposure at some point–the difference between ‘full’ and ‘eclipsed’ is on the order of 10K-100K times dimmer.

300+ days of no clouds in Phoenix, and TONIGHT we have clouds. I’m hoping for the occational break. On the brighter side (literally), the moon’s light has turned all the clouds white, instead of the usual orange I normally see from city lights reflected in them. It’s apparently that bright.

So disappointed. Hoping for some breaks now and again. Will post pics if there are any worth posting.

Tilt shift is appropriate here? Even if I do get the camera that has diorama mode…the trick is actually GETTING the shot I want.

That is going to require a lot of things going right…

Hey, are you planning on using my childhood dream for your shot? Because the setup sounds a lot alike…

Not remembering my dreams doesn’t help out with this one.

Difficulty factor: Loss of dream memory. 😕

I know I’m thinking too literally on this, which is a problem. I DO remember my dreams, including one repeating dream from childhood that I HOPE I can revisualize in a picture adequately. Because of that image, I’m having trouble coming up with something else that’s doable on ‘film'[sensor].

I could photoshop them well enough, but there’s no available contest yet in the PS crowds’ venue. 🙁

I got 10 days, and exactly 1 (one [good]) idea, other than the winning-lotto-ticket picture that everyone will be doing. Anyone faring any better on this?

Suggestions that might set off sparks in my brain?

Here’s how my shot of Sarah was light with her whipping hair.

Thanks for inviting me to this forum, should of joined a while ago.

That’s awesome! Welcome to the parlor…

Here are some B’s. Should they have been A’s? I dunno. It’s been a pretty dreadful week, and I just went with my first instinct without a thought about the votes.

    really like the first one…..

    This.

Well at least it died in the line of duty, then.

I plan on asking the training dept. for another one. It was a fun toy and I didn’t get to explore all the ideas I had. 😥

rav, your circular light tunnel is pretty cool, too. What is it?

It’s a little give-away toy from work, a hand-held battery operated fan with an led light strip. I broke it. The series I took for this contest killed it.

Well Im having trouble picking out 3 entries, anyone feel like helping me choose from these – http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/sets/72157622386003677/with/5247944422/

I like the first one and the swirly tree (not the totally rotated tree.)

I actually like the last one a lot. Granted, it isn’t perhaps the ‘traditional’ miniaturization, but I think if you ignore the people and look at the rocks, it has a macro kind of feel, and then when the people are noticed, they seem smaller. But that’s just me. Appreciate the input, though.

The best time to watch for Gemind meteors will be at 6 a.m. EST (1100 GMT), when the shower is expected to be at its most active.[/i] that’s 5 here and about the time i’m getting up for work. perhaps if the release works i’ll just set the camera outside and snap a few while i get ready to leave.

Meteors can go in any direction, heading away from Gemini which should be high in the west for you. Aim for SW and NW, whichever has less light pollution. That will probably be your best bet. 1-2 minutes is grand and all, but where in the sky to point means it could be a while to capture one good one in your field of view. I’ll be shooting into the NW myself.

    All the rest of you

I’ll try my best to get some good ones on your behalves. 😛
