I would like to postpone this one too.

I wish we could, too, but I agree it’s a bit late in the game to change the theme. I’m lousy at PS Elements with this stuff–I’m reverting to old-school Photosuite 4 (yeah, the one from like 1994). 😳

I at least have the skillset to manipulate stuff there in a way that will work for this theme (even though it also does that whole picture-made-of-pictures thing that isn’t the point of this theme).

These are so cool. I have a picture of me, 1974-5 I was maybe 5-6, at the (IIRC?) Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL. Me and my brothers are looking at a prototype shuttle model, complete with this humongous cone point, that eventually was removed from the design. I remember that January morning walking to school, senior year, and having KZZP actually break in from the middle of a song to announce that something terrible had happened; it was a quiet school day as we got updates.

Wasn’t yours emiliogtz with the beautiful woman getting out of the sportscar with them stilettos? I think it was…I haven’t voted for other than my own yet, but that one gets it…it’s just enough about the car she’s coming from, as it is about her for my tastes.

//heh. The pic I have that’s doing well is one I nearly didn’t select, because the guy isn’t hawt. (er…enough for me, or at least my preferences). A last minute switch with a lone car far down a straight, newly blacktopped highway in the late yellow-grassed summers of the Arizona plateaus, distant mountains red and blue skies. I figured at contest resolution, it wouldn’t say ‘vehicle’ enough, and made a switch.

Or, I’ll just get them in while I eat my ‘breakfast’ (Stouffer’s Lasagna today).

These are all processed a little differently from each other; playing with the tones is funz! They are also fuller sized than I’d post here, so links only (some are large files)

    near the first contact point:

Closer view using the Barlow 2x (the limiting factor is ‘seeing’ conditions, which at this scale, pretty much full res or near it, is about 1/2 arc second):

    http://fossilspringsaz.com/pics/2012/jun/05/transit2.jpg

I rotated the camera (it was too hard to rotate the telescope, lolz) from the last shots, this is contact point ‘two’, when Venus fully enters the sun’s disc.

Cropped (not through the Barlow) of the same:

Half-way entry shot (hey, I don’t have time to put them up orderly):

Near the end of my viewing when the sun was much closer to the horizon, I took two closeups as Venus passed sunspots 1493 and 1496 (IIRC). Taken 5 minutes apart–Venus moved pretty slowly, but it’s evident. Atmosphere was pretty turbulent near the horizon; we had moderate winds:

//edit to say I’ll be stacking some serial shots taken between those last two with 10-15 others, in hopes of bringing out some finer details

    Processed for the pinks:

Lots more (I took some 850 shots total), but that will have to wait for time for doing stuff like stacking, etc. Besides, other than stacking, I think I’ve put up about all the ‘different’ shots I can muster from one event like this one.

Okay, U-Man we heard the fish tail the first time…lutz!

I have nothing for this. I will archive dive, but I’ve been really distracted by crap like lunar transits and Venusian transits and stuff; I’m completely unprepared. I’ll archive, but I won’t hope for much.

Lokisbong I can’t imagine how a tractor would not be a vehicle!

hunches, I wish I had more time to prepare for….”Vehicles”. Friggin’ vehicles!! I’ve been so busy with solar transits and eclipses, I haven’t a thing to wear to the ball tomorrow. If wishes were fishes, we’d all cast nets…

I’m planning good things for this (I hope Kes approves, I’m trying to put a porcelain face on an old sow), but I have *zip* for vehicles. Go figure.

//Hey, can we have the farkstronomy II contest nowz?

///AAND there’s a good question. Elsinore; the whole ‘can’t use an image again’ contest thingy–are all pictures in my mosaics disqualified for future contests? If so, I have some serious rethinking to do. I’ll be burning up a lot of images for this, and need to make the most of them!!

Do tell, how do you get the great variation of shades across the sun?

    Clouds. ;D

Ah, Orionid you should have dragged that out into a diatribe of ‘first you insert water vapor into the air, most easily achieved by evaporating ocean water…etc.

That would have been epic. But, terse works, too. 😛 😉

Yugo it’s a great shot, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Difficult subjects, and all that. I already told Orionid how much I admire his G—err—V spot. hunches–that is one awesome rig! I wish I had that when I took these same shots in 20o4!! They’re all gone, now, victims of some virus or whatnot–I take much better precautions now!

Any who, kudos for everyone for getting such great shots!

I’m with Orionid on this one, excepting that I’ll stop shooting after the sun sets…

Oh-oh—she’s going to be trouble at 17…look at how she’s already let that dress strap lilt to the side! Carry a gun for when she brings the boys over…

    ;o)

They do make batteries for the scope, +Orionid, though the ones I got when I bought it got recalled for starting fires….

(haven’t got the replacements as it’s never been necessary to do so.)

    Thanks, Yugo.

Total fail on the ring thing tonight; didn’t break out the scope, just took shots with the sun obscured behind buildings before sunset. Oh, well. I’ll get a few transit shots; but not many, really, due to my laziness of site choices within reach of a 100 foot electrical cord.

Initially I was going for the front bumper (fascia), but the current ones can’t hardly sustain the license plate, let’s not talk about several pounds of photo gear. I looked underneath but I found nothing I could attach my rig to. That’s the reason it needs improving, bigger clamps and some means of articulation.

Feel free to try to betta yo’selv, but I’m with U-Man and Yugoboy; I’d go with it. I’d vote for it from 0 to 60 in about 1.3 seconds.
