Well, the FAQ is back, at least.

Photographically speaking, just slightly east of Seattle is really interesting around this time. Eastern Washington (the Palouse country) has all these rolling hills with black soil planted with green things that make for cool studies in form.

But we’d have to meet in Eastern Washington.

This would have fit well into the “Tableau” theme

Moving further off-topic, I did a little write up about HDR and tonemapping a while ago. Tonemapping is the difference between these two HDR images which were composited from the same source material:

I used qtpfsgui to do this.

I’ve just about run out of the work-related magic pixie dust that sends me to interesting places.

the OBO votes need manual entry and they’ll get sorted out. can take up to a week or so.

[schnee]

Well, that was fun. Posting from the San Jose airport, waiting to board my flight. Wasn’t sure I’d get to submit before the flight. Whooo Hooo.

[schnee]

Done. I’m not sure what a “professional photographer” is, however.

I’d love to see Gallery include a “similar image” search function. Given a candidate image (e.g. “albatross flying in the sky”), find images that look like it (e.g. “airplanes flying in the sky”). Go take a look at Pixit. But I’m weird and have a very specific use-case for that.

Hey jwareham,

I do still have the lens (and the TS/E). I’ll PM you.

[schnee]

Hmmm, wonder if you should allow the contest site to “behold the power of Fark”?

/likes the Ferris Wheel as well

[schnee]

Yeah, what NoBigDeal says

[schnee]

i’m leaning real hard toward the pun aspect for one entry. anyone have a problem with that?

Dude, Fark.

[schnee]

I asked Mrs schnee what my vices were and she said “photography”. I think I may need a bit more introspection.

And I’m not too up on paraphenalia, but lokisbong, aren’t hookahs (and related) legal?

[schnee]

Actually, I used Sensia – I sort of bifurcated between slides for “art” and negatives for “snapshots” and spent accordingly.
