Probably not Ship Rock – a little bit off of your trip’s path.

Nice. Is that Cathedral Rock? Or Ship Rock? Something like that.

Here’s what I need for OBO’ing the FSM:

    I’ll need this information:

    a) Poster
    b) Entry Timestamp (in 24 hour format)
    c) Actual Farktographer

all in a comma-separated list, and only for entries that show up on the Fark.com “View Voting Results” page. For example:

    veruca,2006-06-21 20:26:41,monkeybort

tells me that veruca posted on behalf of monkeybort at that time.

On the off-chance you didn’t know, the Farktography Statistics Manager (aka FSM) is a little site that is inspired by the Fark Honor Role and the Fark Photoshop Monitor. The FSM tracks Farktography contests, accumulates votes, calculates averages and even gives people their own portfolio.

It needs a little nudging to keep OBO posts correct. Just search the Farktography.net forum (you’re reading it now) for “OBO” and you’ll see how to make sure you get your votes correctly counted.

A belated welcome back, by the way, Uranus.

I want to spend the absolute least amount of time post producing my pics as possible so I can get back to shooting.

Tape the watermark to the front element of your lens and do it in camera. Problem solved.

/not really – my image management technique consists of asking “now, where did I file that?” over and over.

I haven’t figured out what the FSM is (Flying Spagetti Monster?) to worry about stats, etc.

    Blasphemy. Utter blasphemy.

OK, threadjack. Headline Search kicks butt. It is written to use KinoSearch, which is based on Apache Lucene, which I had a very small part in developing back in ’03 or so.

    I’m so cool.

(actually, from a karma POV, it is pretty cool)

millera9, no one thinks you’re dumb.

schnee I spent about an hour trying to find the damn scratchpad on fark the other day and couldn’t locate it for the life of me! Where the heck does the link reside?! I couldn’t find it in the FAQ or any of the forums. Am I just dumb?

I actually have it bookmarked, but, yeah, the number is pretty easy for me to remember. If you can’t remember the number then (a) you needed a more misspent youth and (b) think of the Google philosophy of “search, don’t sort” and use the Fark Headline Search to find ‘scratchpad’. Search link is (from Fark.com) -> righthand side, “community” section, fourth link down.

If you can’t remember ‘scratchpad’, well, then, I think I have an answer to your last question.

Also, there’s the Fark Scratch Pad – you can try stuff and not hose up a thread.

“Interesting” is a pretty good antonym for “mundane”, but “marvelous” has that alliteration thing going for it. We’ll need to get the change in b4 next week’s theme, so there’s time for more discussion.

Description: Take the mundane and make it artistic.

That was my initial description, but the wordsmith in me is starting to look askew at ‘artistic’. Word-wise, “take the mundane and make it {antonym of mundane}” appeals to me more. Help here?

    …and make it marvelous?
    …and make it extraordinary?
    …interesting?
    …?

    What say you?

Ultimately, the nuances probably won’t matter. It’s just a language thing.
