    what’s your price range?

I think panasonic has some of the best point & shoots, but Olympus is also good. I don’t have any experience with Canon or Nikon point & shoots.

A used dSLR might be in your price range and be a great value.

If the sun is rising over a mountain ridge, does that count? Or does it have to be all pink and orange?

    I’ve come in 227th twice.

of all of them, I have more first places than any other specific place. That really surprises me.

very cool. I’ve thought about doing something similar with a Kodak Six-16 that my grandmother had in a drawer for about 40 years before giving it to me. It was my very first vintage camera.

There’s a ceremony? Drats! I must have overslept that day!

In other news, I finally got my 13th place finish (and two of them simultaneously) to now have at least one each of 1-29.

I’d never thought to look for that. I’ve got 1-52.

Santa gave me the fucking stomach flu for Christmas. I was not amused 😛 But I also got some photography books, a gel holder and gels for my shoe flashes, and an ambient light/flash meter. My Fark Secret Santa also gave me a sheet of plus green gel and a wedding photography book, and I scored another Land Camera off ebay, this one with a glass lens as opposed to the plastic one on my Grandfather’s. So yeah, Christmas wasn’t bad, until Santa brought the stomach flu.

my youngest son, too. this will be forever remembered as the Christmas of the Big Silver Bowl.

thanks, schnee… the OCD in me has been sitting in a corner rocking back and forth saying “it’s only numbers” over and over again for a couple of weeks now. It’s getting old. 😉

At least you can come up with ideas, execute them and enter. That’s something.

(I haven’t been able to pull it together since “the incident“, when my worlds collided and fell apart.)

no, I’ve never shot with a shorter one. Yes, I shoot with a 20D. I don’t think you get true 1:1 macro without adapters with the shorter ones, but I could be wrong about that.

I’ve had the Canon 100 and then when it was stolen, I replaced it with the Tamron 180. The Canon was so much faster at auto-focus. And while the 180 is a fine sharp lens, I don’t like how far back you have to get for a lot of shots. It does give you a great working distance for bugs and whatnot, but trying to use it indoors can be a pain.

I plan on selling it and replacing it with the 100, which is a lens I can’t say enough good things about. It is fantastically sharp, has great bokeh, and doesn’t do too poorly as a portrait lens, either.
