We’re so much better than those sleeping slobs. Look at those slobs, sleeping.

I have neither staples nor stitches. I have a vacuum.

And while I’m using my lovely vacuum friend, I can’t take showers except for just before the nurses come to change things around, about every three days. So I have to stand with one foot in the tub and one out and wash my hair and shit.

When I can take a full shower, the doc encourages me to put on a glove and soap up the site. I’m three weeks out now, so there’s no pain, but it is decidedly weird to be sticking your finger into your leg.

I’ve been having a fun time with stasis ulcers and general vascular collapse for about a year now. It’s soooooo weird to have giant holes in your body.
It’s also a lot of fun trying to tell your boss that, you know, you kinda need a place to toss a pile of bloody gauze every night. I’m fine, perfectly fine, don’t fire me, just, you know, I sorta kinda need to dispose of a cubic yard of bloody mess and might be longer than 15 minutes on my breaks.

Farktography has gotta start doing charity or something to get our karma back in whack. We seem pretty cursed as a lot.

My wound has a 3cm incision leading to a 9cm empty space. I asked the surgeon if she could heal it up like a pocket so I could keep my weed in there, but no dice.

They’re so stingy and picky about stuff.
Even normal stuff, like using a stapler instead of stitches.

All of us with chronic, unhealing wounds should get together sometime and form a mobile ersatz leper colony that taunts people at Linkin Park concerts.

    It’s great you’re doing better.

Seriously though man, stop being so coy. Did they use a surgical stapler on you or not?

interestingly enough, I did google, and though I didn’t dig too far in I found a lot of sites with links to contests, and links run by Farktographers. Direct hotlinking not so much, but given millera9‘s thing today I know I’ll be paying a lot more attention.

I don’t pull my images after the contest because I watermark them, and I figured that that would be enough. We’ll see how that goes moving forward though.

I never bothered with watermarking, so I don’t know how much of a difference that makes, but man, my stuff has popped up everywhere.
From crazy eastern European forums full of child porn to crocheting blogs. And I barely have any content, let alone talent, a reliable host etc.
I’ve never gotten an email asking if they could use my images for anything. They might mention where they got it though, which is nice. I like it; but if I didn’t, I would be really mad.

For example, a really long time ago, before I had a camera and was in college, a friend of mine shot this for me. I’m pretty sure, underneath all that smudging, there used to be his watermark.

Of course, I only know because I’m really self absorbed and spend hours searching for myself online.

Normally I’d be flattered but if that picture doesn’t come down soon I *will* Farkback and ask that the entire thread be yanked if need be. It’s upsetting me, it’s *really* upsetting the wife, and I certainly would not have posted it had I known that would be one of the parameters of the contest.

I mean, you can tell where it came from, my goddamn copyright is still in the corner.

I don’t see why you should wait, I’d farkback immediately.
What I meant earlier was that people who want to protect their images should be actively taking steps to do so.

Google farktography and you’ll see a bunch of sites rehosting contests. Most of them a heck of a lot less ethical than Fark (probably all, I mean, they’re stealing fark content).

    But, being thieves, they hotlink.
I don’t suppose any technically inclined folks have a better solution than pulling or renaming or whatever your images after the contest is over?

Do photoshop contests ordinarily get permission before using images?

I could see how people would be upset by it, but unless they take their images down 2 days after a contest I don’t see any way to prevent it from happening on any number of other sites.

You should have had ont of these: http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/05/14/fake-photography-licenses-for-when-someone-says-you-cant-take-pictures-here/

    That is genius.
How much would those cost? (in dollars and, if applicable, time in jail)

$45!? Pfft, if I had that kind of money I’d just have the group kidnapped and shipped to my crawl space!

I’m going to fool around with converting it to a more user friendly format with “SUPER”, then editing it with either WAX or that windows movie maker crap over the weekend. Then, after my spirit is broken, and my feet are marred from kicking the goads, I might consider paying for software.

I mean, Casio’s Exilim does this stuff! It should be free and easy!
I just want to have them flouncing about with staplers! I have video of them flouncing in front of a green screen and I have video of staplers! THIS IS AMERICA, DAMN IT!

staplermofo, you *know* you weren’t supposed to tell her that…

There goes my peace and quiet this evening :/

Er, ummm, I meant the new version allows for you to be heard vacuuming or saying things like “here’s your steak” and “sure, just let me brush my teeth first so it’s nice and clean”

i know i’ve been really really chatty in this thread and i apologize if this has gotten on anyone’s nerves. i’ve been having a rough few days and photography in general (and farktography in particular) has helped me from completely falling apart. nonetheless, i apologize.

You know that “are to be seen and not heard” thing has fell out of fashion a couple years ago, right?

I hope he’s okay, I love that guy.

I sure feel like a jackass for all the spider comments now…
What kind was it and where’d it get him?
