Lucky you, the D100 has a depth of field preview button! I think it’s on the front of your camera, right by the lens.

I’m not sure about the D100, but on my rebelxt I can hold the dof preview button down, then fiddle with the aperture until I see what I want. Try it out.

Of course, now that this thread is 7 months old and you’ve probably already found a great solution you’ve been using for months.

Man, crowded bars are the hardest place to take pictures. Out of the 340 I took, those are the only ones that came out.
I’ve gotta be doing something wrong.
    Advise!

make sure you have enough compromising pics of everyone where they live in constant terror of what you may do with them.

Considering the last time I tried that I found someone all too willing to get totally naked, I’d say I’m incapable of doing that. These are farkers after all.

Well. I learn something new every day. 😯

That practice is properly called “docking” and it’s reasonably popular in Japan. There are some really interesting doujinshi that play it off of koro. Not to mention the abuse of foreskin restoration devices for recreational body modifica…

I mean, um… *runs out of the room*

A defunct software company? An independent Japanese research institute?

The basicest of tutorials is “taking pictures is free now!”

Just fiddle around with everything and look at the results until you’re comfortable with it. There should be a really nice tutorial already in the box it came in (even my puny Rebel XT non-i had one).

Yeah, continually losing to staplers is really messing with my self-worth! 🙄

You wanna talk about losing self-worth in farktography? I didn’t even crack the top 3 in the stapler themed contest. Ever since I’ve just been trying to get the courage up to kill myself.

(congrats Diggin, it’s an amazing pic.)

It would be funny if you took pictures from the cliche photos’ perspectives.

Anyway, this is the first time I can recall where all three of my entries were taken with the Canon 50mm prime I have. It’s nothing to sneeze at, as it’s the $80 f/1.8 version, but nevertheless…

I hear that’s a great lens. I keep meaning to pick one of those up.

Less meaning, more picking uping. They’re $70 now.

This thread should be the official response to “Why did ____ end up with 10 votes when that crappy _____ got eleventy billion?” questions.

I think it’s the first time this many people have explained why they voted the way they did.

More important than brand is target user. Enterprise class hard drives are going to last longer than desktop hard drives, and the price difference is tiny when you don’t worry about blazing performance.

Seriously though man, back stuff up on something safer. Two copies of everything on safe media! Everything! At least twice!
If you don’t, oh teh laments! All your files will die! All of them! DVDRs are cheap! Get in the habit of backing up everytime you move stuff to your computer. Make a special folder for stuff that hasn’t been backed up yet, beat yourself with a cat o’ nine tails every day they stay in limbo, one lash per file over what it would take to fill your back up medium of choice! Write yourself reminders in the resulting blood! Back up!

A generic external usb hard drive enclosure and a 400gb Seagate (two if need be) and a pinky swear to back up on something more reliable?

if the guy in question is from NY state around buffalo it’s one of the folks i was talking about. he mentioned you by name as trying to help him.

I think I know who it is.
If you see him around, tell him his account is functional, don’t give up, there’s hope, everything will work out, we can do this, we’re a team!
If that doesn’t work, force him to watch Rudy over and over until he believes anything is possible.

re the members list. yes it’s multiple pages and i should have remembered that. however i’m not getting any indication of there being more that one page of 50. i did do the sort desending to check after seeing monkeybort‘s post.

I just meant that the info isn’t lost, it just isn’t being displayed. It should be fixed in a jiffy by our hard-working technical people.

*goes back to practicing his whipping*
